BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome to the site & the fanbase Vlox!

It was persistence, pushing the series DVD as hard as we could to drive up sales, and spreading the word to as many as we could to bring in new fans.

We are doing the same thing now in an attempt to make the movie DVD a success & try to get a sequel made.

actually Universal was really jonesing to do some work with Joss Whedon, and all Joss wanted to do was make a Firefly movie...
so in September (before the FIREFLY DVDs WERE EVEN ON SALE! Yes, that is right: three months before the first Firefly DVD was sold) Universal signed on for a script.

However the DVD sales in December did mean that Universal was willing to gamble a bigger budget on the project, so Joss (and his co-author Brett Mattews) converted that first script into a comic book, and Joss went on to write a big badder BDM!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again:
I am confident we WILL get a sequel, it'll have to wait for Joss' commitments to 'Wonder Woman' and 'Goners'
but in another year or two the 'Serenity' sequel will be inevitable....

IMO

Magic and Vera. And yep, we'll get those sequels. There's some efforts going on right now to work on that, for June 23 and Sept 30.

Welcome to the boards!

Very true, The deal was in palce and budgets were raised almost double due to dvd sales and fan reaction as I recall. It did help the initial deal that 'Versal was aware of the fanbase before the dvd's came out. Fans had purchased ads in prominent magazines in efforts to save the show, had letter campaigns, etc. We've done the impossible, and that makes us mighty. Now back to the keeping it up....

I agree, but I guess a movie is more likely, and if I see it right, Joss would prefer that.
