Was any pre-production art for Firefly or Serentity ever made available? I've always enjoyed seeing early representations ships, planets, locales, etc. (e.g. the Ralph McQuarrie Star Wars paintings.) I'd love to see early sketches of Serenity, and how she took shape over time.

Was any of this material ever published?

Theres some in the Serenity Visual companion. I think theres some on the extras for the FireFly DVDs too.

There was a little on the series DVD set, I think some basic sketches and a clay model was shown. I'm assuming that the upcomming Firefly Visual companion from Titan will have far more because they have enough material for 2 volumes.

EMBERS

I really recommend the Serenity Visual Companion
with the shooting script
Joss' notes to the composer and lighting people
and lots of beautiful pre production art
including costumes....
it is a treasure (I think Haken has a link for it on the Home page)
