I ask because I have recently noticed the term popping up in T3 magazine and on a UK TV show called Green Wing.

I don't know. It pops up in Andromeda as well, I'm not sure where it came from first.

America loves a winner!

Certainly it's been around for a while. REM had a song 'Shiny Happy People' back in the 90's. But I now use it on occasion myself, instead of 'cool' , 'awesome' or 'great', etc....

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

" They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. I worked that out myself. "

And isn't there some online cartoon that uses, 'Oooo...shiney!' in it? It's the one with the nasty bunny. (Yeah, my mind's blanking on the name right now.)
