i've read through several threads and thought i have to ask to squash this curiosity i have as to when serenity day is. All i need is for 11thhour or kaele to post, or someone who isnt out of their gorram mind! i believe that the date is not as important as the events going to happen on that date.

SO, before i go guerilla marketing, what is the date i will tell my audience? JUNE 23 or 30, i remember it being 23 for the longest of times, then someone brought up that it should be june 30 because of some good point of theirs, when the fact of the matter is that it has caused so much confusion that it doesnt REALLY matter as long as we get the word out in a united tone, and get everyone to BUY THE GORRAM DVD!

So, im assuming 11th is in charge, but i know that kaele has a website up. Until I hear from someone i will market the date as June 23 since it seems that all the posts on relevant threads are meaningless blabber of someones pride getting struck and people being too pretentious to let things slide and get to the ruttin point.

would you whiny brats stop arguing and PLEASE flip a coin and choose the date. Im sorry, because this is only aiming towards the irrelivant blabber coming from a FEW people, but honestly, STOP IT. you dont always need the last word of every situation.

Now for you responsible browncoats (who all deserve cookies by the way) and dont post meaningless blabber, lets talk plainly as to the joy of the soon-to-be auspicious day. The day we show the powers of control that firefly deserves to be put on air, and that no other show in the world would have people raving and ranting at 1am about other fanatics of the show who just seem to be throwing monkey wrenches into the plans. Let us speak of this day because i BELIEVE that we can do it. There is no reason why we should not succeed with our endeavors, unless we devise our own demise and undo what we are sought to do before we even get it done.

Here's how it is:
Kaele is in charge of SERENITY DAY, which is gonna be on June 23rd, Joss' birthday. ( www.serenityday.org)
Activities will include buying lotsa DVDs and doing some shiny stuff. I'm sure one of Kaele's crew can fill you in on the details, and their absolutely new and shiny message board is here: http://forum.serenityday.org/

On this day, ALTHOUGH COMPLETELY UNRELATED, there's also the world-wide Serenity screenings for Equality Now, organised by Serenity Now/Equality Now. That's a CHARITY event, and you are more than welcome to attend or even organise a screening, and of course donate (which I'm gonna have to do, since I doubt there's gonna be a screening in Germany. I talked to some people and posted on the, well, two German boards, but after 3 days of not only no replies, but no activity AT ALL on EITHER board, I'm kinda thinking no.) www.cantstoptheserenity.com

Then, starting with Serenity Day, there'll be the Serenity Summer Campaign or Summer of Serenity (tba soon), which spans over the summer with a lot of guerrilla-advertising, recruiting of browncoats, shindigs, conventions, spreading the word, etc...
The Summer of Serenity will end on September 30th, the annual of the premiere of Serenity, where we're gonna have another run at them shiny DVDs and do a lot more things that would make any Trekkie blush. September 30th is called SERENITY 'VERSARY. It will be officially organised by FFF.net, with 11th Hour at the helm and Haken spinning his dark web from the shadows.

Support all of this if you can - SERENITY DAY and SERENITY 'VERSARY are 3 months apart, so people should be able to put some money aside. And SERENITY NOW/EQUALITY NOW is CHARITY, so save some money to make the real world a better place, too.
And if you don't have the money, invest some time, if you can. Just be part of this or you might regret it later. Oh wait that sounded like a threat. You know what I mean.
Apart from that, it's of course also about funfunfun and doing lots of shiny things with lots of shiny people.

There, I hope that helped, and I hope I didn't get anything wrong.
We are so gonna kick ass this year.
And we're not competing camps, we're in this together, I might add. There was some mudslinging, a little gunplay, couple o' needles, but now all is shiny again among the 'coats. I'll take this opportunity to again apologize for some slinging of said mud and to say how glad I am that it is over - and in the end, it turned out shiny, and just about everyone is happy with The Plan(tm).

Thank you for the clarification. I am going to do a piece (or a few) for some places I write. They are going to look at them and hopefully post them (web content). I wanted to know exactly what was going on so I could do my pieces. As well as be able to recruit more browncoats. This is extremely helpful.

Thanks for clearing up a lot of conflicting threads. We need to get our message clear. I, for one, am ready to purchase no less than five "Verse Kits" (all eps + Serenity movie) for various friends. Yeah they ain't gettin nothing for XMas after this. But it's for a great cause, which is to wake the gorram suits up to the fact that WE WANT MORE FIREFLY!!!!

Oh, I thought... well, just about the only information about Serenity Day I gave was the name and the day, which is quite safe to assume is correct, but I was still waiting for "confirmation", so weather you intended it to or not, your remark brought that to my attention, and I thought it was written in a sarcastic, yet non-aggressive manner.
Well, you know, sarcasm - it's the bread and butter of Firefly dialogues, so I will never take it the wrong way, and it works so much better without smileys.

Are you British?

If so: We all plan on doing our pieces ('going crazy', 'frantic') on June 23rd.

If not: Where do you plan on publishing your pieces, so we might all read them?

As for myself, I plan on buying DVDs on 23Jun06, to show my appreciation for the movie ('cause I don't buy junk, hello?) and to show Universal/F*x/PBS/Guthy-Renker/anyone who'll give us more that there is money in the Firefly franchise.

I would like to attend a screening, but there isn't one in my state, or in the states surrounding it. So, I'm going to go to a 'virtual screening' in my living room, where I and some humans who are close to my heart will be the guests of honor and get the full-on star treatment (damn those papparazzi!). Then I will take the money I would have spent on a ticket/popcorn/soda for a Serenity screening at a local theatre (had there been one) and donate it to Equality Now, in Joss Whedon's name.

I hope this doesn't confuse or anger anyone.

As for where, I am not sure yet. It depends on which places I write for want to own the articles. I will probably also post on my blog sites as well. Once I get the pieces done and up I will post with links (if I can figure out how to add links) for everyone to see.
