I was just watching Independence Day, and for those of you that don't remember, Adam Baldwin (Jayne) plays a military officer in the film. I have to say, seeing Jayne play all straight-laced is right creepifying. Still got the shivers.

At last.

I don't remember him in that movie at all. But hey I loved Independence day and now I have a completely valid reason to watch it for the 80th time.

It's funny you should mention that. The other day while watching Independence Day with a friend,we were on the scene where the captured alien goes medieval on the medical staff when I hollered out "it's Jayne"!Kinda scared my friend. He IS my favorite Firefly character was my excuse. It is kind of funny to see him as an uptight, slightly pissed-off airforce officer.Although he does have a history of portraying soldiers. You should check out Full Metal Jacket to see a very young Adam Baldwin playing a kind of tough-guy machine gunner in Vietnam!

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

I didn't realize it was him until my stepdad pointed it out. He's the one who shoots the alien, right?

I did see Full Metal Jacket, but it was years ago, long before Firefly came out. Course, now I have a reason to re-watch it.

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."

Adam is one of the guys EVERYONE has seen in one movie or another, but can't remember. Sort of like Bruce Campbell. Leading roles in TV series and cult movies, and supporting roles in big ones.
Damn shame.

Yeah, but it gives him even less fame than Gollum for Andy Serkis. You play a lead in a blockbuster, but your face doesn't even show up once. Major bummer. Maybe people even think "that robot was GREAT!", but who really knows who played it?

Maybe there's gonna be a new Oscars(tm) category for that sometime in the future. "Best virtual actress/actor" or something.

Yeah, well, maybe that's because stuntpeople are generally considered workers, not artists, and that if stuntpeople got their own Oscar(tm) category, gaffers would want theirs next or something. Sort of like a 2-classes society.
Apart from that, people wanna see stars when they're watching the Awards.
Or am I off there? I don't know how the Oscars(tm) work. I prefer Awards that are given by consumers, not commitees, anyways. Less politics there.

Adam Baldwin is also on the Inside (although I think it got cancelled) playing and ex-marine FBI agent called Danny Love. Pretty much Jayne but cleaner, beardless and slightly cleverer.

I love Wash! Bring back Wash!

Did anyone see Adam in Bones? It was hilarious coming upon him out of the blue! I got shouted at for my sqeals of glee!

For those that watch and don't care to know:

Select to view spoiler:

He played a straight-laced FBI agent who turned out to be crooked and in the employ of the Maffia. I of course saw it coming. After all, it was Jayne!!

Exactly. There was a lot of grief trying to ratify those awards.

Negotiations were going fine with 'Best Loader', 'Best Caterer', 'Best Grip' etc, but things descended into a bit of a brawl when they got round to 'Best Best Boy'.

He's in 'The Patriot' too, as a collaborating Dragoon.

He plays the Major who shoots the can off the space ship when they give it a virus on earth as a demo.

I swear I wasn't obsessed with that movie . . .

AND he was on the X-files.

I LOVE INSOMNIA!
