Besides me, I mean? I miss Mal's opening narration, which I now suspect was a a mandate from the the hated Fox. Despite that, I liked it and wish it was somewhere on the DVDs.

Not complaining, mind you.

Well, yes, I miss it. It would also be super cool if they had the "previously on" parts before each episode as well, now that I can see the episodes in the proper order.

Hey, hey, hey, don't be mean. We don't have to be mean, because, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

I kind of miss them as well. I especially liked Book's version of the monologue since my first memory of Firefly is catching the Train Job pretty much by accident and hearing that warm explanation as my first introduction to the verse. Mal's...not so much, but whatever. The fact that we needed these quick catchy intro's to try and suck people in is kind of sad in itself. It's just going to show how the plot was muddled with and made unclear by FOX's incorrect airing of the episodes, and thus explanation was required.

It would've been nice to have these as extras, along with "previously on" and the TV ads of course, but then again maybe it's best that the material is just taken head on and you can follow the plot yourself.

I also miss the little Serenity stencil thing at the end of the eps, but Joss and Tim's names are nice as well.

Cool, i'm in! (sorry, but i was having trouble for weeks, getting logged in :)

'Previously on Firefly...' is such a cool phrase for me, probably becasue of Ron Glass' VO. I use it when i'm writing summaries of my Firefly: Epiphany game.

BOOK Yes, I'd forgotten you're moonlighting as a criminal mastermind now. Got your next heist planned?
SIMON No. But I'm thinking about growing a big black mustache. (beat; deadpan) I'm a traditionalist.

i DO aim to misbehave

I miss it - and I think the lack of it causes some confusion for those who are seeing the episodes for the first time. There is no longer an explanation of the 60/40 reality-to-technology ratio enjoyed by this show. Wether it was network mandated or not, it was a great way to give perspective on JW's "nutshell" for the show. I've had to explain why there are horses in a science fiction program, and I think it's because of the missing narratives.

I liked both Book and Mal's versions. Book because Ron Glass does such a shiny voiceover, and Mal's because it was so cynically straight forward.

Nah, the intro never really did anything for me.

Though, I do think they should have included them as Special Features on the DVDs.

Well, here I am.

--spoiler--

I'm intrigued by the deleted scene from Our Mrs. Reynolds. The last half of it (Mal's dressing-down of Saffron) I find quite poignant. Their relationship could use that level of tension.

I also find the deleted opening scene from the pilot to be one of the most ambitious series-opening scenes I have ever seen.

I liked the opening to Serenity that they went with better, but the scene with Zoe and Simon talking about the battle should have been in there. You really get Mal's bitterness, and it gives Zoe who doesn't get to talk enough some really good screen time.
