SLEESTACK

I am a relative newbie here. I did not see Firefly air originally and I had only heard bits and pieces up until it's DVD release. I purchased the set a few weeks back and have watched the entire set about 1 & 1/2 times through. I have also watched all the special features on Disc 4 and three of the commentary tracks thusfar. Here is the problem:

I am pissed. Let me preface that I knew I would be unhappy upfront either way as I wouldn't like it or worse, I would like it and it'd be over. Well, I do (or did) like it and it's over. The thing is, I would have been better off not even seeing it. I already despise most TV programming and then throwing an amazingly well-done show out there to tease people only to have TV execs snatch it back and toss it in the garbage is infinitely vexxing.

How shows like Andromeda (which used to have it's moments) and Mutant X and *cough* *hack* *vomit* the new Battlestar Galactica manage to win airtime is unfathomable.

It's these damn things like the Firefly DVD set that remind me of what TV could be, but what it actually is and will continue to be, that make me seething mad. Because of this, Firefly is wholly wrong. It is simply a tease and a painful reminder. Damn it to the scrap heap. grrr. arrrgh.

Yes, this site should more appropriately be called Firefly Fans Anonymous or FFA for short, since we have all become addicts and are ready to kill to get some more.

I think you, as my fellow fans have pointed out, don't quite now where to rightly direct your righteous anger. You need to pissed at Fox, not at this beautifully done rose of a show that all of its addicts (and their arch-enemies, those "people" at Fox for whom I have heard several dear friends and relatives describe rather vividly-and accurately-with the most foul language I have ever heard...and the funniest part...that was in well over fifteen languages for well over two hours...I was partial to the English and Mandarin descriptions, myself)love to no end (or hate in the case of Fox). I still think it quite sad that Grey&Grey in concert with ArpCorp couldn't pull off a buyout, hostile corporate takeover, or even a straight-up coup d'etait...so sad, all that covert work for nothing. So, yes, I also agree with the statement that Fox execs wear blue gloves...and I have actually seen them in them...then again, the Grey&Grey negoiating team was dressed up like and doing their best imitation of the a crew very much like the Serenity's...the sights from that meeting still cause me to roll on the floor laughing some days...anyway, sorry about the woolgathering (and that I don't have any pictures, but those got locked away by all involved parties), but I just thought I would put in my two cents.

Hi, Sleestack, I know you from the AMB, where I lurk. It is maddening to have Andromeda go down the tubes and yet survive while something as grand as Firefly is pulled off the air so soon. But there may be a movie, and at least some meddling execs didn't get hold of it and have Mal impregnating any ice princesses.

HUMBLE

i thank fox for bringing us firefly! that being said, i now curse them with sores and boils on their private parts for canceling firefly, as well as their blatant numbskullery over programming some of the most idiotic, stupid, foul, degrading, moronic, undignified shows ever brought to the dying medium of network television! my confidence is high that an announcement for either the movie or series revival on cable network will soon arrive! with obvious public demand for firefly based on dvd sales, the hollywood money men will be tripping over themselves to get a piece of the action. also, with the dismal reviews of battlestar galactica, enterprise, andromeda, mutant x, etc., this leaves a vacuum in the scifi tv market. as nature abhors a vacuum, big wigs will scramble for a money making hit: voila, firefly returns!

to fox execs: hope you enjoy your lump of coal ya ruttin, gorram, sum beeahhtches! (pardon my french ladies and gents.) oh, and happy holidays to all browncoats!
