Oh, there are plenty o' singles in the demographics thread. I don't know, actually... *tries not to feel silly*

Yes, anyway, US long distance means, like, hundreds of miles apart. We would call 2 hours a "commute" more than the other thing. In fact, my last relationship was about that far away. I will say readily that even that sucked. Another state is usually 4-8 hours away, minimum. And across the whole gorram country? Days. Hard to make that kinda thing work.

Oooo, walking distance! I wonder what that would be like? Everything's so spread out here that walking distance isn't likely in almost any situation. Esspecially because I live in suburbia hell, far from where most interesting folk would be. And interestin' folk are rare here, anyway, I'll tell ya. I would settle for a 10-20 minute drive. Something that wasn't a "commute".

Live in a area full of interesting people. Just none of them are relationship material. The city I live in has a unbalanced girl-boy quota so there are way to few girls. And preferebly It would be nice to have a browncoat gall, but since almost all browncoats in this town are the ones ive converted (and therefore part of the not relationship material pool of people) that isnt likely to happen anytime soon.

Strange, I have no problems building other people up, but can't even descibe myself. Let's give it a try. 6'1", muscular Merc type that actually enjoys stimulating conversation and outdoor activity. Turned 28 a few months ago and a bit softer around the edges than I used to be. Native Nevadan so the whole Browncoat thing coincides well with my lifestyle. Also, I'm naturally brown so wearing a brown coat is always in style. Looking for a physically, mentally, and emotionally strong female who: puts Firefly/Serenity second to none, likes trying new things, and would love to go to the range and waste a few hundred rounds in the name of venting frustration. Ah, another who acknowledges it's not a simple choice, for if she could make it she would, just in the hopes it would be more fair.

I will level with you here, FMF, it makes nothing easier. See, most girls aren't interested or they aren't my type. I'm cursed with the curse of liking more feminine women in a world where it's (mostly) masculine women interested in me, a feminine woman. It's a strange, strange thing.
It does mean I might get more asthetic pleasure walking down the average street, but beyond that... *sigh* just say it takes a special kinda person to interest me, so I'm glad my options aren't (necessarily) limited by what parts they might have.

Well, I am working on the "I have friends who have friends" angle in LA. Not really sure I WANT another French Canadian!

I lived in DC in the early 80's and used to spend a lot of time with my gay male friends - so was often in the company of woman who found me attractive. I was just not interested. Although, I can definately appreciate a beautiful woman - or woman's body. I had one female friend that kept wanting me to give it a try - but I had to tell her honestly that I would be happy to receive, it would be the giving back that was the problem

A River-typish person who wouldn't mind putting up with my theories, or someone who can answer the questions: Why are there no Dr. Pepper commercials? What does a White Castle burger taste like? Prefer the dark-hairs (can't stand blondes for some reason, although my ex was one) and the slenders, with big eyes that bore into you, and open into the soul...where was I? Anyways, I'm open, although I refuse to talk about certain subjects. (My early childhood, as it technically isn't over, and how much you might hate a person. I generally like everyone I meet, and don't like them being criticized.) I have a fear of dogs, a result from an incident in my early childhood. (I can actually talk about that: got mauled by my Uncle's dog when I was 4.)

Ok, never done this and don't much like talking about myself, but here goes.

I'm 31, been single for seven months after my - god I hate using the word boyfriend at my age - of five years stopped talking to me, literally.
I hail from Glasgow, Scotland, love most things comic-y sci-fi and am a bit of an obsessive when it comes to Firefly and Serenity. I also love horse-riding, going to the cinema and reading.

I would love to get in touch with people who are loyal, honest, reliable, with a sense of humour and, if you're as big a geek as me then that's just fine!

Sure, why not, some people juggle geese.

I’m a 36 year old SWM near Austin, Texas. I consider myself fairly Wash-like, though friends and those silly online surveys place me closer to the Captain. At 5’11’’, 160 lbs. I’m thin but semi-muscular. I fit in somewhere between too damn proper and a might whimsical in the brain-pan. I like movies, sci-fi (tho’ Firefly is my first obsession), brewing, guns, primitive skills (flint knapping, tanning and the like) and other miscellany. Working on quitting smoking, not so much w/ the drink.

What I’m looking for…well not that any are required but I like Zoe’s strength and courage, Kaylee’s sweetness and positive outlook, River’s innocence and craziness and, Inarra’s sensuality and grace. Silliness and/or the appreciation thereof is plus. I’m pretty much open if the chemistry’s right.

What the hey,
Looks like I'm the Grandpa here (though I never
married). 38yo M, Very even blend between Mal,
Simon and Wash. I can play Jayne if I have to.
(I am armed and lost, but rarely angry)
Big on computing (I like Linux/BSD). Looking to
buy a small farm in the next few years -like
gardening, reading. Can easily enjoy being close/
physical without getting sexed... Can easily enjoy
getting sexed too I'm not THAT old heh.
In SLC atm but will be in PDX to stay in the next
month or so. I smoke and plan to quit when I'm dead
though if I'm kept busy, I can smoke as few as 2 or
3/day. Very big on open communication. Don't like
mysteries or head games. Bring home enough coin to
keep a family fed, not that I want kids at this
late date... I'm 6'1", fit, not athletic, 180#.
Blue eyes, oh, and thinning out on top (it's a
sign of high testosterone! look it up!)
Despite all this I look 30ish. My highest
personal value is Service, and I'm pathetically
Romantic...

In a woman I prefer dark hair and eyes, actual

Outside of Philly, here. 26/m, have just a bit too much in common with Mal (see bio and latest blog entry to find out why), including a slight physical resemblance. Got a little rainbow sprinkling of Kaylee (fondness of working on heavy machinery) and a dash of Wash (large, semi-muscular and a wacky sense of humour). Take heart, at present I'm looking for no more than friends, but I'm not completely closed off to anything more than that.

(Oh, and a note to you folk who'd like to have a walking-distance relationship: I've had one before and my life was literally not my own. When it ended a year ago I was relieved. If you find one, make sure the significant other doesn't expect to be the center of every microsecond of your spare time.)
