Now I have been a Nathan Fillion fan since his "two guys and a girl" days. He is one funny, charming, talented guy. Yet, he doesn't seem to be hitting the big time in the way he should be. Tom Cruise? please, can he just go away. Nathan is FAR more talented than a majority of the male leads out there. So what gives? Thoughts?

Because stars are made by the movie companies. If they put the resources behind him he could the be the biggest star in Hollywood.

George Cloney isn't so bad, but Tom Cruise should be burned at the stake.

It's true, Nathan should be a bigger star. The depth of character he shows in his work is ten times that of many A-list actors.

I kinda like that he isnt a big star, I mean dont get me wrong I wish nothing but the best to him but I kinda like that fact that he is our little secret. I worry that if he gets mega star huge than he will forget about the browncoats.

"And I think calling him that is an insult to the psychotic lowlife community."

I support any idea that involves killing famous people I don't like! How about we add Britney Spears to the mix just to see what happens?

There a lots of great actors who don't ever seem to make it out into the open. The main qualifyer for being a BIG star though is looks. The stars are made by the studios, and the studios don't want you if you don't have the look.

Also, has anyone thought that maybe, like John Malkovich, he simply doesn't WANT to be that big?

I think that as long as he is making money (and judging from the list of pilots he has done, the man is working) and doing what he loves, he is probably at a good point.

I am afraid that they will start giving him the crap blockbuster rolls that get boring after awhile and then he would no longer have fun.

Look at Adam Baldwin. He works ALL THE TIME and yet, I bet he can go out in public. Thats having your cake and eating it too!

He will. All in good time...

Many of those who have been mentioned loafed about for years in the lower echelons before they became popular.

Although is that really what you want to see? Personally I'd prefer Nathan to be a more low key actor. Well known but certainly not in your face, as the Cruises, Clooneys or Pitts of the world.

The man is certainly talented enough and good looking enough to make it big. We all know just from watching the BDM that Tom Cruise can't hold a candle to Nathan. Not only can he make us laugh and in the case of us women- want him, but he can truly move us to tears. Hollywood will understand the depth of his talent one of these days.

I think his big break is right around the corner.. perhaps the BDSequel?

And I don't think it'll hurt for his star to rise... he'll be able to choose what he does. And I don't think the man can leave Serenity anymore than we can.

Plus, he's so good looking, how much longer can those folks in Hollywood keep him out of sight?!

I dont think Nathan will ever forgett the Browncoats, hes a big fan of the show himself and seems to love playing Mal, and if they gave him boring blockbuster movies so star in I think he would simply say no. The man seems to try to work in projects he likes.

Yeah, I agree - he's one of us at heart and I don't think he'd ever get to turning his back on the browncoats or the 'verse.

It's because he's Canadian. No, I'm just kidding. It's just because he hasn't had that big blockbuster movie yet. Once he's in a movie that hits it big, then the bigwigs will notice him and go, "hey, check this guy out, let's hire him". Also it's because he's Canadian.

I just saw Saving Private Ryan Saturday evening for the first time in several years and I was blown away by the brief appearance Nathan had as the "wrong Ryan". I've never seen a male actor breakdown and cry so well. It's usually so fakey, but not our boy Nathan. By the end of that minute I was practically crying too.

Just adds to his appeal-it seems he can do anything acting wise and the face and body help too! LOL

Oh, NCBrowncoat, his performance in that is startling. It actually does exactly what it is supposed to do, you are just heartbroken for this young man. Not a fake moment there.. you really BELIEVE that he is Minnesota Ryan.
He does a fantastic job! And how come S. Spielberg isn't making a movie with Nathan?

You know, I don't know if you have a special fondness for Nathan or not, NCBrowncoat, but if you're interested in joining the Appreciatin' Nathan crew over on the Browncoat Board, PM me or drop me a line at followmal@gmail.com. We have quite a crew of Nathan lovers or Mal-oholics over there. We're always happy to have new members and we have a lot of fun.

Remember, Clooney had years of working in the wilderness in all manner of crappy roles before he ended up in ER (second time anyway). Nathan is definitely growing a base, plus now he has two good leading roles in motion pictures under his belt, it'll be interesting to see where he goes from here.

Who knows the logic of hollywood? The very fact that Firefly got axed shows a lack of common sense around that neck of the woods. I definately agree that nathan has everything it takes to make it really big - looks, talent charm etc. Every female I have shown firefly to has been blown away by Nathan......

I wish him all the best, but I tend to agree it about maybe not everyone wanting/needing to be with that A-List group - privacy issues, decent roles etc etc

I was watching that latest sliver interview yesterday, and Nathan was explaining how he got the job - he said it was because he wore a kilt to a premier ! See, like I said, no logic in hollywood.

He's not more popular because he's not an ass, pardon my French. In order to make it big in Hollywood you either have to be shallow as a Frisbee or a complete jerk. He's niether.

Personally I think it's just a matter of time before he's a top-dollar movie hero. We can only handle so much of Keanu's mono-syllabic babbling (Though I did like Constantine, though I might have been the only one) and eventually Harrison Ford is going to die. Nathan is a great choice to fill the summer blockbuster role.

For FollowMal's sake I hope it comes true soon. Personally I don't mind him taking time off between Firefly seasons and Serenity sequels to make some good stuff.

Are we limiting it to just those two? I for one am SICK to DEATH of Brad Pitt as well.

Hmmif we take out Britney Spears and Jessica Whatsherbucket from Dukes of Hazzard would that make it easier for Jewel, Summer, Gina and Morena, too?

Oh.My.Gutbuster.

I personally wouldn't wish hitting it big on Nathan (unless that's what he wants). If he's working and enjoying himself, why add all the crap that comes with celebrity? In this day and age, it has got to bite the big one. Papparazi have no shame.

I wish him just enough celebrity to get the roles he wants and to get recognized ocassionally but be able to blend in when desired.
