Hey FMF! I agree with Tristan, you come off as quite a catch

I have missed soooo much of this thread, I don't think I can even hope to get caught up. So I'll just try to pick up from here... what's the latest topic of interest?

Hmm. I don't have any good advice there I'm afraid. I met my current boyfriend at work - actually I was his boss for a few months! Then after he quit, we started dating. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I feel like anytime you go out looking to meet someone, it's guaranteed to be a bust. The only thing you can do is try to put yourself in a position to talk to new people. But it certainly isn't easy.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

FMF, or Tracy, you have quite a lovely smile. And I have to say, you do not look 41. We all already knew you were a shiny person, too
Anyone know how to bring this to the attention of a certain someone?

I was on yahoo personals at one point, but since I refused to pay for it I really didn't get very far. I was only allowed to send those - whatchamacallits - ice breakers, I think. Sent a few back and forth, but all the people who interested me also weren't paying, so we never could arrange a meet. You couldn't say whatever you wnated in the icebreakers; they were pre-written

I want to know what all these people are doing on a personals site in the morning!

Yes PEEPS - how can we show the shininess that is me to the future MR. Cause how is he gonna be a future if he doesn't meet me!

I just saw someone i know on yahoo personals, didnt know that they were single or looking, guess i dont know em that well, i also find that a good way to meet people is through a friend of a friend, but this can go horribly wrong i hear. the freind acts as a middle man/woman and if you like em tell your friend they will probably do the same and before you know it, but if you break up it can be bad for you friend who could have to choose between you.

This happened to me not long ago. It started to become clear that two friends of mine were interested in each other, but they didn't know one another very well so I offered to "facilitate" things by getting us all together to hang out and then going on a double-date or two. It worked out great at first, they started dating and were together for about a year. BUT, then they broke up, and now I have to decide which one of them to invite to parties, etc. It's sad.

FMF, have you seen a movie called My Date With Drew? Its the story of how a guy making an indepedant film for under I think 1,000 dollars and tries to score a date with Drew Barrymore, (Not Drew Carey). Cute story, just an idea.

My best friend, (lets just call her M), Acually dated my oldest friend from the sixth grade. We were all friends at the same time. She actually ended up marrying a drinking buddy that we were also all friends with. Everything went to hell in a handbasket many times over. And over. And over. Though I am still friends with two of the three, She seems to be the tie and the cause of alot. Oh well, If the other two guys involved would grow up we could probably still be one big happy SHINY family. Oh how the 'verse turns.

Hey FMF,

I had no idea you were out near my neighborhood and all =p I used to check the Browncoat map for names I recognized for a while, but it broke (at least for me) some time ago =)

Anyway, that's kinda cool, I think. I usually head out that way once or twice during the summer. I don't know how often (if ever) you get up around Montgomery, but I think that would be cool if we could run into each other some time.

I'm not hitting on you or anything (not that you're unattractive from what I can tell in your picture of by your personality around the boards). I'm married, and happily so, but I still think it would be pretty cool to know some Browncoats out and around. My wife wants to meet some, too - I think she may believe that we're the only halfway normal people that like the show...and going to a comic book convention to see Summer and Alan didn't help =p

Amiton.

I saw your log entry today and looked this up. I am more than 50 miles from Foley, but if I were closer, I would court you in a manly fashion.

Seriously, you are an attractive lady with a smile bigger than Kaylee's.

I used to worry about having a younger face than my age, but my hair went gray faster than Taylor Hicks', so now I just get small kids pointing at me in line and saying "Soul Patrol!".

How are the t-shirts coming?

So who is he?

So i'm back early, never a good sign. Full report:
Went to pick her up at her office and she was no there. Another bad sign. So as I'm finishing a note the receptionist asked me to leave, she shows up, (looking very, very pleasing to the eye I must add). She says how sorry she is first thing and tells me her son is home sick and she would not be able to go. Then she comments on how I look,(very nice and fashionable). Says she wore the little dress special and everything. Damn, really sucks when you have to conduct personal buisnee in a professional setting, not to mention I was stricken a bit speachless when she said that. To end, we spoke about the degee to which her son is sick, poor little guy can't hold anything down. Doesn't it suck to be sick when its great outside. I know she is genuinely sorry and I'm not angry. Just a bit frustrated and sad. I'm gonna find the guy stacking the deck against this whole thing and proceed to threaten him with bad things. M tells me that the greatest things are attained through hardship and perseverance. I told her that is such bullshit and asked where she heard it from and she told me that I said it. Hmm, I said that? Anyhoo, If things don't start shaping up I may have to start a disappointment committee. Thanks for the support BROWNCOATS.

Seriously, though, I do hope things work out for you...and if there is anything we can do (I don't know...be a cheer section or something?), give us a holler.

Did you at least get to have anything to eat? Lunch is a very important meal.

SASSALICIOUS

Groups of females are always bad. We tend to be catty and gossippy and yes, try to sabotage each other. It doesn't happen as much at my job now because most of the people I work with are really chill and kinda crazy, but my high school job was really bad. Especially the drama between me and 1 of the female managers and me and this woman who was a higher corporate person. Whoops. I may have snapped off on her a few times.

@Phoenix: When/if you end up at college, go to a big school. It's easier to dodge the annoying people and find others with similar interests. For the past 4 years I've successfully avoided the annoying plastic people, except when I'm working.

As for the age thing, my mom is 40. I can't date anyone that's close to her age, so I don't think I could do anything over 30. Even 30 is probably pushing it. My friends follow this rule: "Don't date someone younger than your age divided by 2 then plus 7." So a 20 year old shouldn't go younger than 17 and so on.

Bullying: I was never really bullied. I was picked on in the shady apartment complexes we lived in as a child, but I quickly learned to seem tougher than I was. I was pretty mouthy though. Kind of surprised I never got my ass beat for that.

I've had a bit of that way back in high school. My best friend's girlfriend. We were all friends beforehand, but after they broke up, I stopped wanting anything to do with her, even though she started gunning for me immediately afterwards. Got complicated later on, though. Went to another state for college, and got back home for vacation to find that she was always at my house hanging out with my little sister. :P

@NVGhostrider: If at first you don't succeed... :) Hey, at least she showed this time. Usually bodes well if they put the effort in to seeing you, even if they can't make it to the date.

@FMF: I'm sure your captain in shining tight-pants will come when you least expect it. Don't any of your 47 "children" know someone closer to your age? Hey, if you could find a guy with a house full of another 50 or so people, you could sell the rights to a movie about it or something... (Cheaper by the Hundreds, or the Browncoat Bunch? :)

lol, don't feel bad Mercury. Clubbing with those young enough to be your children (esspecially if they are your children) is not generally enjoyable to most fortysomethings in my experience. I'm actually rather impressed that her kids want her to go out with them; I tended to tell my dad to stay the hell away from me. But really, especially if she wants to meet people, a club full of teenagers isn't her best bet.
