We've all wondered it. We have all seen the blank stares from people if they don't get the inside joke. So when do we become avid Firefly Fans, and when do we become the insane Star trek-esque fans of the 70's? I believe there is a line, where would you put yourselves on it?

I would call myself a clearly-thinking rational person. However, THEY would definitely call me obsessed.

Hell yeah.

I love the show, no more, and definitively no less. I think when you're in love with any work of fiction you're obsessed. I've met people obsessed with Shakespeare before, absolute nuters, and if I seem as strange to them as they do to me I'm still proud to say I'm obsessed.

-

Seriously though, can someone explain what people see in Shakespeare? I mean he kills any character that develops in the least. The only way to live through one of his tragedies is to be like Iago, MacDuff, or Horatio and never change a bit.

Oh how I wish I wasn't as obsessed as I am.
Being obsessed over Star Trek or something else is one thing, there's 100s of hours of footage to watch. Not so with Firefly :(

Still, I find myself gettin excited every time I stick in one of the DVD's - and I probably still will when I can reciet the shows word for word - and I even start to miss it if I go a whole day without watching at least 1 episode. When I'm watching I'm constantly thinking up how much more could have been done with the characters/story, and when I finish an episde I can't stop thinking about how much I enjoy it!

I've even had to restort to getting my family to watch the shows, in the hopes they like it, so I'd have someone to chat to about it!

I need help! xD

I would call myself obsessed, but that isn't a bad thing imo. I know some Trekkies and I don't think their level of obsession is bad either, so long as it doesn't get in the way of their lives. There is a point where an obsession goes too far, but I would think that it's pretty difficult to reach that point.

I own the DVDs
and all 9 covers of the comics
and all the books that have been released

I've made costumes, written some fan fic, done some fan artwork, and bought a dozen t-shirts

I went to the movie about 8 times, and attended meet-ups in Iowa and California

yeah, I'm pretty much thinking we could call me obsessed...
yeah, I think that that is the word for it.

Obsessed?

Me?

Noooooooo.

I'm so rutting beyond obsessed it's shiny. Trekkers walking down the street in their starfleet uniforms point at me and scream, "What a freak," as they pass. The American Psychiatric Association is going to put out a new edition of their diagnostic manual solely to cover my far beyond compulsive devotion to Serenifly. I'm hoping that they name the disorder "Tragic Space Dementia, All Crochety and Paranoid"

Have you seen my long-ass thread about my coat?
Some would say it's just a coat. To me, it is a symbol; a badge of honor. It says "I am a Browncoat, and I am proud!" Those who do not understand are either deprived or simply idiots.
Yes, I am obsessed. I am hard core. I am a line-holder. I am BROWNCOAT.

Yep, there is a line. I do hope I haven't crossed it yet! I am happy to call myself a trekie as well as (primarily) a browncoat, but about 10 years ago when I went to see Patrick Stewart do a fantastic one man performance of A Christmas Carol at the Old Vic theatre I was mortified to see someone turn up in a Startrek uniform. I mean that's just disrespectful of his as an actor isn't it? Oh and there was the time when Walter Koenig (Chekov) was sweet enough to join me at the bar for a drink at a convention and some idiot kept calling him Chekov! Just made you want to die!!

One thing that does make me proud is that several of the Buffy cast have said how much they enjoy doing conventions in the UK because the fans are more respectful. After all just because someone is a big damn star doesn't mean that every fan has the right to accost them whenever they like for photos and autographs. So long as we treat our heros with courtesy and respect I say we have nothing to be ashamed of! Be proud of your Browncoat!

Obsessed? Me? No way. I think it's perfectly normal behaviour to buy everything Firefly-/Serenity-related in the 'verse. Also, I think it's perfectly normal to start swearing in Chinese (if I can remember the words). Or to keep telling people about the show/the movie until they either go out and watch it themselves or try to silence me by any means necessary. Or to say "shiny" a lot. That's not being obsessed. No way

How's business?

Obsessed? I replaced all the expensive Nortaki and Lladro wedding presents and fancy porceline doodads I collected over the years in my china cabinet with Firefly comics, action figures, autographed photos, an autographed Serenity script and several props I bought from the London Propstore.(bar glasses, bamboo brushes and an extras dress.) I even bought a browncoat. It's not an official Firefly coat its just a browncoat.

AND on JUNE 23 I'm buying my third copy of Serenity and the Firefly series. I'll have one I play, one for display and one as a "screw you FOX" vengance copy.

Obsessed....maybe...
