The other day, I was thinking about what would happen in the next film (assuming that there will be another)

Out of nowhere, two possible endings formed in my mind.

1)
Every character leaves somehow, either by getting killed or just leaving serenity, except for Mal and Zoe. They then start afresh on Serenity.

The other, and more likely ending in my mind is the same except It's Mal and River who stay and they have to find a new ship because serenity was destroyed.

What do you think about these, and do you have any of your own?

Blue sun.

In my mind, Joss had four major plots. River, Book, Reavers and Blue Sun.

The reavers were the focus of the first film and I think he's consigned Book to the eternal mystery list. Rivers secrets were beginning to be explained in the first film but I think Joss will take it further (keep developing it). This could be neatly tied in with the uncovering of the Blue Sun Corporation.

I have more in depth theories, but that is my shortened summary!

Well, my ideas tend to get people all worked up, but this is a Joss Whedon verse, so I think they are plausible.

So we back up a bit. The reason Book couldn't tell Mal about his past is because he still needed Mal to finish the Miranda business. Book knew exactly what was happening. I think he knew about River long before he got on Serenity. Remember what the bounty hunter said? "That ain't no shepard." Why? Because he recognized an Operative when he saw one. Yeah, that's what I said. And no, that's not my theory. I borrowed it. Sorry if I don't remember who to give credit to for that. Book was a "multiple." And the Operative we saw in the movie was a clone. Another one of those clones died on Haven.

Now, before you start the hate mail, let me finish. Cuz it only gets crazier.

Wash isn't dead. If you missed that discussion, then I'm sorry. If you were here, then you know what STEERING COLUMN means.

Now for my own theories on a plot. Book was on Haven to revive the Browncoats. You can imagine it isn't going too terribly well, or people would have heard about it. The information about the Reavers was something that could help him in his fight against the alliance. I believe he was there when Serenity came to use Mr. Universe's equipment. I believe he saved Wash. But he couldn't get through to help the rest of the crew.

The next movie (in my humble opinion) would be about Book and Wash trying to find Serenity (because they would obviously be trying to lay low after all that happened in the first movie), and helping River and Simon to find the people that did all this to her. That would probably bring in the people that helped Simon get her out. River pilots Serenity now. Book has himself a new pilot. Zoe would leave the ship to be with Wash, all though before that we would get some funny hormonal antics from her since she's pregnant. (I'm just full of something today, aren't I?)

Now, before you get a chance, I get to poke holes in my ideas. Joss Whedon doesn't seem to like big drawn out wars so much. His stories are about people. Also, he wants movies to stand by themselves. So he may not want too many flashbacks.

Feel free to start the hate mail now.

We talk about this a lot around my house (with all my Browncoat friends).

We would like to see some more info on the back story of Inara (there has to be a lot more to tell) and also on Book (we know "he's no Sheperd"). I don't think the relationship between Mal and Inara can really work out, but I'd like to see them at least give it a go (in their own unique disfunctional way).

We are going to have to see how Zoe is dealing with Wash's death. (Or find out somehow that he isn't really dead...which is a stretch, but I can still hope...right?)

I would love to see the connection between Blue Sun and the Alliance, but I don't know if all that can be done in a movie...I really think we need a TV series to flesh it all out the way Joss wanted to.

I also wouldn't mind seeing the Operative again. (Anyone know if he also had a 3-movie contract?). He is "no longer their man"...where could that leave him? Maybe at the Southgate Abby?

I wouldn't be happy if they dumped all the crew but Mal and River....that's not what I signed up for!

Here's the short version: denial.

The long version: http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=19261

I think Joss may go for something completely original for the sequel, something with no ties to what has gone before whatsoever.

Which means the possibilities would be endless.

No, I didn't miss that discussion...I'm just not convinced.

I just feel that as much as I want Wash to be alive...it's just got too much of the cheese factor (think Search for Spock). My husband's favorite character is Wash and he said he would rather leave him dead than have to do something cheesy to bring him back. It was a pretty big piece of lumber going right through his lungs....

I don't see how wash could be alive, don't get me wrong, I love the character and want more of him but, wash was left for dead in the cockpit, fine something may have happened then while they were fighting the reavers... BUT, when they return to the ship (as we know they do) they either find Wash or they don't, if they don't I doubt they'd still assume he's dead, if they do find him, they'd bury him (like they assumedly do).

Now it is a Whedon story, and if Buffy and Angel taught me anything it's never count out a character, just because they are dead. But this is Firefly/Serenity, and it's set in a much more down-to-earth 'reality'. Even River's 'reader' ability is pretty Sci-Fi, whilst vampires are just Fi.

Do we not remember the dead guy they got in the mail? Even in this 'verse, Joss Whedon doesn't take death as final.

First of all, I doubt Joss would bring Wash back. It sin't fai to the fans that cried in the theatres an had Wash wakes and... I'm rambling.

I personally began to think Book could be and Operative shortly after I saw the movie. It makes sense to me. I think the second movie will focus on the crew discovering Book's past. Agreeing that we have those four major unaswered plots this is what I think he will tackle Book next. while still revealing more about River. Blue Sun will be the third
