JULIEMILLERFAN

Regretably, I never caught the show in syndication. I merely picked up the DVD set out of Curiousity, as I have so many other shows before it. (I have nearly 750 DVDs....) I have been an avid Sci-Fi fan for years now, & to find something I hadn't watched piqued my interest.

After several episodes, I knew I liked the show, but the episode that pushed me over the top & made me come here was "Out of Gas". Not only was the story well written, & the acting well done, but the overall effect was to give me a deeper caring about the crew. When Zoe gets blown back by the explosion, I honestly found myself caring... something very few shows have brought me to. Watching Simon care for River... I have a sister I love dearly, it touched me. Kaley... Jayne, Book (the only character I didn't find interest in as his version of "Christianity" somehow was less than truthful), all of them left a mark somewhere.

Now I'm working my way through the commentaries, & specials, & wishing that this show had been given more of a chance. Why didn't it last? Why do Network exec's pretend to know what we will "like"? Why can't this be resurrected as Star Trek was after 20 years time. (Ok, I want to see it NOW, not 20 years from now.) Why.....

Where there is hope, there is a way.

Sign my name whereever it needs to be put. I don't say this often, but I'm willing to go to whatever lengths are available (short of sleeping with a Network Exec... A guy has to have his Moral Limits) to let my own voice ring. I only pray that someone listens.

I said this once, I'll say it again: "The voices of ten people id louder than ten thousand silent."-Napoleon Bonaparte. If we all spoke out, there's a chance the would reconsider. If they don't, wait until the movie...:evi:...That'll show them.

Well, all I can really say right now for you is Keep flyin'!

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome to the board JulieMillerFan. It's always nice to see a new Browncoat sign up.

Glad to hear you picked up the DVD set and that is what brought you over. Don't give up hope. We are hoping that positive sales of the DVD will clinch a movie deal for Joss and crew. Joss has finished the script and word on the boards has it that Universal is looking at a possible movie deal.

NO4MK1

I just got the DVD set for Christmas from a friend. I finally watched them the all last week - what a trip! I had never heard word one about this when it was being aired so far as publicity goes. All I could say afterwards was, "How on Earth did FOX justify killing this?" This is the best sci-fi I have seen since Babylon 5 (another one I hated to see go, but at least that one had an end...) My wife has been a religious follower/watcher of a number of other FOX series' (most of which I can take or leave) and even she missed any ad or mention of Firefly when it was being aired.

I'd have much preferred to see the series picked up again, but I understand that it may no longer be possible (what with other committments the caste may now have and all), but a movie is a suitable second best. I'd go see it (and I see maybe 3 a year in the theatre).

HERO

Yup. "Out of Gas" was the one that got me. I saw it back when it was on TV. It was the first Firefly I saw back then.

What I liked most about it was how alone Mal was throughout the whole thing. Alone he struggles and fights. Then he falls short right at the end only to have the Crew (especially Zoe) there to make it all come together. Shows that he was never alone at all.

Nice.

As for bringing it back, I'm still partial to my variation on the letter/postcard idea. That everyone send in their DVD sets. It shows how much we care and thousands of DVD sets arriving on their doorsteps will get more attention then postcards.

Also, has anyone considered some sort of public demonstration. If a few hundred people get together for the 'Browncoat' Ball thats been mentioned, why not add a few hours of picketing the local FOX affiliate to the schedule? I still think Firefly needs a few 'never been done before' ideas to get it back where it belongs.
