Personally I try to avoid worshiping most, you know worshiping a friend is ok, but if you worship a celebrity or a god it just makes them feel all alienated and alone.

Why do we care?

Why is it that when I'm down people want to cheer me up, and when others are down I want to help them. Why did I just write two long posts telling RiveR6213 how much I want to see her happy?

I've always said we're family, and I believe it, but why are we? We share only Firefly and a forum, I don't know you, I've never met you, I probably never will.

I know next to nothing about you.

Why do I care about you?

I just said in another post that I don't care why I care, but I guess that's not true, because now I want to know.

Why do I care about people who I never met, who I know only from words on a screen, even if I haven't read many of those words or built up an image of who they are?

I think that would be quite a deep issue even if I weren't currently trying to fall asleep at 1am in a room that's considerably warmer than it was in the middle of the day this time last month. Could we claim shared humanity? Some primal urge to meld as members of the Browncoat tribe that even manages to transcend the fact that we're thousands of miles apart staring at only a text based web program? Heck, I saw that other post you mentioned and it picked me up, and a) I wasn't the intended target and b) that's normally impossible anyway. Fuzzy warmth is good for the soul, evidently.
