hello all... i was wondering if there was a way to find out if there are other Browncoats in my area. I live in Anchorage, Alaska. I'm so envious of people who live in the major cities because they all have their Serenity screenings ready for Serenity Day. If I could find a handful of people...maybe we can put one here too. Thanks for hearing me out! Love to all.

Sincerely, Tai

Welcome to FFF, Tai! I'm sure FollowMal will be around to give you a browncoat soon.

I'm again I don't know of any Alaskan browncoat organization. You might want to try a yahoogroup search, since I know a few locations do have yahoo groups.

Aside from that, I wouldn't know where to look. You could try looking here again. Next time, put looking for other Alaskan browncoats in the title. I imagine other Alaskans out there will notice the thread much more easily.

Kudos to you for trying to organize an local screening. I wish you much luck.

Peace!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome aboard Dqbaby76. Glad to have you here.

We are a friendly group and more than willing to help you, you just have to be patient. Sometimes it may take a little time for someone with relevant info to show up and assist you with what you are looking for. If people did not answer right away it is because they had nothing to help you.

I would try searching Yahoo Groups as suggested above. I checked out MeetUp.com, but there is no Firefly or Serenity group in the Anchorage area.

Take care and keep flyin'!

I spent a summer in Anchorage once, does that count? I loved it there, so beautiful! On the warm days, we'd have beers at the brewery on the north side of downtown (near EQ park?? It's been so long!) and watch all the airplanes come and go and there was pretty Denali in the distance and Susitna across the way. *sigh*

But I'm waaay far away now, sorry!

I recall talking to someone on this site who was from Alaska... hmm, thinking thinking... It'll come to me. Maybe.

Even if you hear of no one, don't fret! I live in a browncoat void but I've made many browncoat buddies just by hanging out here. I'm sure you will too!

And welcome!!

DQBaby76,

Welcome to this part of the 'verse! We are a friendly site! We may just be a mite slow today.

As you've been told, I'm here to hand you your
browncoat...

*hands DQBaby76 a browncoat from the storeroom*

We're very glad you're here.

Now, to your need to find other Browncoats in your area.....

I have a friend over on the Browncoat Board in our crew who is FROM Alaska.. dunno which part, but she is also a member of this site.. I'll have her PM you with any information that she might have on yahoo groups and the like. If you don't hear from her in a couple of days.. PM me and I'll get her to drop by. She is of course on the same time as you..so it'll take her awhile to get my message and then you two awhile to hook up.

You might try checking out the www.cantstoptheserenity.com website as well, they may have a link for yahoo groups or some such.
Just a thought.....

It is certainly very shiny that you'd like to have a charity screening! Thank you!

There will be more people who will come along and offer you greetings.. we love new folks!

thanks to all for your help. i apologize for getting a little irked earlier. it was one of those days where you wish you could just sleep right through it. maybe i should have... hehe. it can be frustrating not being able to enjoy other Firefly/Serenity events that are going on in other cities and not being able to discuss it with other people in the area. oh well, i'll just have to wait and see what pops up. i'll be moving to the lower 48 in a while to another "middle of nowhere" place so maybe its just destiny that I be the lone fan for now. Which just means that I have to try and spread the word some more. What I think is even more hilarious is that I hate westerns and I really dont care for sci-fi. I used to make fun of people that were crazed fans who went to conventions but something about this show was special. I wish it had the chance for a different outcome. dammit, i wish i could go to Flanvention II!!!! but i guess for now I'll just keep up hope that there will be more to come. Thanks again everyone!
Sincerely, Tai

TRAEVYNN

Welcome dqbaby76! This here Browncoat is in Seattle and I know there are others in Vancouver, BC. Its not all that close to you but what is a couple thousand miles to a Firefly mid-bulk transport ship?
Also keep in mind the time difference. When we folks on the far West coast are posting, the Browncoats to the east are heading for their bunks.
Keep looking for fellow Browncoats in Alaska, there's got to be one or two out there on the ragged edge.
good luck!

Hmm sorry I'm in Utah ( actually I'm sorry I'm in Utah too, but that's another thought entirely) However welcome and you could always hold your own screening of Serenity and see how many friends/accquaintances/people you kidnapped off the street that you can convert:)

You're only young once, but you can be immature any time!

Hey, you think Anchortown is bad, try being in Fairbanks, AK!!!

There are a number of us here but most are not out of the closet as Browncoats and we have no official organization. I know a couple of folks who are in Anchorage and would qualify and know more about this than I would. Drop me an email and I'll forward you on, and if you do have a charity screening kindly let me know so I can post it all over up here. I drove 7 hours for the re-release of Star Wars: A New Hope, I will SURE do that for Serenity since I missed it on the big screen up here the first time!!!

FollowMal asked me to get in touch with you so you can thank her for this! *grin* Hope I can help.

Well Dqbaby, if there are no fans in your area, you can always recruit some!
