Welcome! Welcome! It's so great to see another fan joining the site. You are among a community who certainly shares the same love and lament as you...

Have you seen the movie, "Serenity", yet? If not, check out cantstoptheserenity.com to see if it will be playing on the big screen near you on June 23rd.

Others will be along shortly to greet you. In the meantime, pull up a chair and have yourself some Mudder's Milk and strawberries. Heck, I'll even play "The Hero of Canton" for you on my guitar...

*Tunes guitar and starts to play*

"Jaaayyyynnnneeee!!! The man they call, "Jaaaayyynnneee!!!"

First off welcome fellow browncoat. Grab a Mudder's milk and make yourself to home. Or we got some very fresh wine if you'd prefer.

You could try writing notes to the people listed in this thread http://www.fireflyfans.net/showblog.asp?b=3948

Also in just a couple of weeks we have Serenity Day http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=21034

Beyond that spread the 'verse as far as you can. Family, friends, neighbors they all need to be shown the greatness of Firefly.

Stay shiny,

David

Anoriolko,

Welcome home. That is what I usually tell everyone when they arrive. For this is home to all of us who love Firefly. And we do.. we love it exactly the same way you do. You've come to the right place.

I hand out browncoats to new folks, virtual ones, but still your right nonetheless.

*hands Anoriolko a browncoat that fits perfectly*

There are lots of ways that we have planned to try to get a sequel. Or the show back. As you've been told there is the chance to see Serenity the movie followup to the series on the big screen at a charity screening near you. Check out
www.cantstoptheserenity.com for that. Those will be in theaters June 23rd.

We are also going to buy the movie all together, all at once as many as we can on June 23rd, but that isn't affiliated with the charity screenings.
But a shiny thing to do anyway. You can find out more about that at www.serenityday.org.

And since this is home and our ships the best...we have lots of things planned for the whole Summer of Serenity and the anniversary of the release of the movie. We will be announcing plans for that right here on www.fireflyfans.net.

You've got your 'coat.. you've got your strawberries... you're set. Help us hold the line and make this possible.

Anoriolko,
Welcome to the shinniest place in the 'verse.
You'll find lot of nice Browncoats here and we all aim to hold the line for a sequel.

Found some local strawberries today. They are likely the last for this year. *Passes out strawberries* I think there's some cream or even chocolate around here someplace.

One day.
One plan.
One army of Browncoats.

On June 23rd, we aim to misbehave.

I highly recommend www.bluemoonstuff.com, but there's lots more really shiny sellers - I'm sure someone has a list ready.
As for Sci-Fi... that would be shiny, especially since Sci-Fi belongs to Universal. However, please don't annoy the people there - we need them as friends.

Welcome here, we're weird.

After you watch that fourth disc, good luck with that, go out and buy Serenity, then watch that. (What else would you do with it once bought? Why do I say these things?)

You'll have more, but not enough.

As for getting even more than that, some people will tell you it's a lost cause, some people will tell you it's hopeless. What you have to remember is that the show was pretty much screwed before it ever came to air, it has been a lost cause since the start, and hopeless since the start, and we still got 14 episodes, one a two-parter, one feature film, one novel, two non-novel books, three comics with more on the way, action figures, and so on.

Cause may be lost but that doesn't necessarily mean we won't get more.

Just believe because no one ever did the impossible by being reasonable.

-

On a different note, like I said, welcome here, and you will be, and indeed have been welcomed, open arms and all. I'm not going to say you'll never find a better group of people than you have here, but if you do consider yourself blessed beyond all comprehension.

These are people who will welcome you and care about you, who will debate with you and be there for you, they're a family and you're a part of it.

Welcome home.

Aw, that cynic always surprises me with his uncynical, sweet posts.

But Chris is right, there IS hope, and Firefly is somewhat unique. Just take this website - we get about 30 new people each DAY, with a total count of more than 21000 members - and that's just on THIS board. Keeping in mind that we're talking about a show that was cancelled after half a season and a movie that bombed at the box office, that's curious to say the least - and the word is spreading fast (get on that train, too, btw. ), the DVDs are selling EXTREMELY well, and the demand for more is ever growing.
Currently, we get shiny things like comics and an ornament etc., but we keep our eyes on the prize - Firefly on SOME sort of screen.
So if you don't just want to enjoy what we got (which is totally okay, btw), there's LOTS of things to do and help the effort to keep Serenity flying.
I think the most pressing atm would be spreading the word for the Equality Now screenings ( www.cantstoptheserenity.com) and Serenity Day: Visit www.serenityday.org to see where you can help, or go directly to the Signal Corps, which I know needs some more assistance: http://www.geocities.com/browncoatsignalcorps

Apart from that, there's lots of things you haven't seen, heard, bought, worn or read yet! If nobody is gonna post a link to that thread with the shiny links to the River Tam sessions, the conventions footage, music videos, shops etc., I'm gonna look it up for you.

And watch the extras and listen to the commentaries, all very shiny stuff that will make you fall in love with the cast and crew and Joss as well. We've all seen a lot of Making-of's for all kinds of movies where everyone repeats how great it was to work with this actor or that director, and how well they got along, yaddah yaddah yaddah. Watch the actors, Joss and the crew interact on the extras and conventions (or, of you're lucky, in person) and you will SEE that those people love each other, and working with each other. And they love us fans, and we love them... it really IS like a big shiny family. Which doesn't mean that there's the occasional heated argument, of course.
Anyways, as I've said before, these are exciting times to be a browncoat, and although you (and a lot of other 'coats, including me) have missed a lot, there's still a lot ahead.

Welcome home, anoriolko, #21354.

I see you have your coat and some strawberries, but we need to invite you up to the galley to question the buffet. Shimmerwine fountain is at the far end.

Make yourself to home.

If you can't get that fourth disc to work, take the gorram thing back and get a replacement. It was probably pulled off a ship as illegal salvage and imported through Badger or some other dodgy guy.

Then spread the Firefly love as far as you can. Fan-base expansion is one thing you can always do.

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome aboard Anoriolko! Glad to have you here with us. Make yourself at home.

We all share your frustration and anger. We have been working on spreading the word about the show, just as your friend did with you. By introducing the show to new people and getting them hooked as you are, we are building on the ranks of browncoats already here. The more fans we have the better our odds of having future installments of our favorite 'verse. The more vocal we are, the better the odds of the Powers That Be answering our cries.

So if you want to help, get out there and introduce the show and the movie to every single person you possibly can. Convert new fans so we can continue to grow.

Take care and keep flyin'!

Mind you it might be senior citizen Mal and his merry band out to rob the depends factory( just kidding)Truly though another browncoat is always welcome

Welcome, anoriolko!!

Please let me hand you a nice glass of Irish whiskey to toast your arrival. Sláinte!

We, your new comrads, share both your joy and your sorrow for our show, but hopefully you're having more of the former than the latter.

As others have said, there are charity showings of the BDM (Big Damn Movie), Serenity (a great follow up to Firefly) in a number of cities. If you can get to the Ann Arbor, MI area, ours in THIS Saturday at the Michigan theater.

I hope to see more of you around. Welcome again, new friend!

MarvlGrl,

I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to get here with your 'coat! We have had so many new folks the last couple of days, I had to make another run to Eavesdown Docks to get another supply!
