MAXHEADSHOT

Yes, it goes without saying, if I registered with this particular forum, I'm a Firefly fan but quite honestly, I need the truth. I need to either be handed hope or just told the bitter truth.

I enjoyed the series immensely and just finished watched the entire series (in its intended order) via DVD once again. I want more. So many questions need to be answered (including Sheppard Book's interesting past). The characters are compelling, the stories have flavor but this excellence is all bitter sweet to me. I try to tell myself, "Well, just deal with the fact you got a snapshot of these lives and thats all yer gonna get." But its hard.

So, someone tell ol' Max the truth. No holds barred, holding nuthin' back: Is Firefly dead?

FLYINFREE

Joss is working mightily to make the Firefly film, the script is written and Joss is very optimistic about the possibilities. The DVDs sold incredibly well so things are looking very hopeful.

"...we're still flyin'."
"That's not much."
"It's enough." Malcolm Reynolds and Simon Tam - Serenity

Remember Max.....They can't take the sky from us!

It's true that they may not be making new episodes of Firefly but there are some things you must remember...

1- There is a movie in the works. While it may take some doings to get it made I have confidance that it will happen sooner or later. When that time comes I also have no doubt that it will renew interest in Firefly as a regular or mini series or even movie sequels. I've always felt that between the beginning of "Serenity" and the flashbacks from "Out Of Gas" there is enough material to come up with a decent prequel for Firefly. All it takes is someone with the skill to write it and it could make one hell of a movie or even a great piece of fanfic.

2- With so many Browncoats (and so many Firefly sites) keeping the faith alive with RPGs, fanart, filk and fanfiction it can never truly die.

3- Speaking of just fanfiction. There is enough of that just on this website alone to keep any fan in new adventures until the movie finally does come out and/or the tv execs get beaten to their senses.

"We will rise again!"

Let us all remember Universal did buy the rights to Firefly from Fox at Joss Wheadon's request, this alone should cause hope. Joss Wheadon is a very powerfull man in Hollywood circles he had the highly successful Buffy series go for seven years, still has Angel on T.V. plus was the man who rewrote the script for Toy Story wich was a major hit.

Joss Wheadon has just finished the script to the Firefly movie,so yeah MaxHeadshot you've got grounds for hope.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

There is always hope Max, just keep the faith.

Joss has the script for the movie done, and the last official word we had was that Universal had the rights to Firefly as far as the movie goes. I think right now they are waiting to see what the returns are like on the DVDs before they commit to produce it. They are probably looking at the script & trying to determine production costs as well.

I appreciate the responses and thoughts. Just tough watching these characters develop and then having it snatched away. Just can't remember an ensemble cast that got my attention so quickly. And the dialog ... just incredible. Add me to the list of folk keeping the dream alive!
