Hmm as it's father's day I'd love to see everyone's opinion of which Firefly man would make the best dad. I personally think that Wash would be the best followed by ( yes i know this is weird) Jayne. I think both of them would be fun adventerous dads who would also be gentle and take really good care of their kids. I think Mal would be good too, but I don't know if he could lighten up enough. I think Simon would be waaaaay too strict as a dad, but still loving and I think Book would be too serious. SO what do you all think?

You're only young once, but you can be immature any time!

Interesting question!

I agree with you about both Wash and Jayne. Mostly because, I think, both grew up with fathers, they've (probably) had role models in that way.
Most importantly, both know how to take a step back and relax. They'd have a great time just playing with their kids and making them feel secure and loved.

Simon would be somewhat reserved. Devoted, certainly and kind and a great teacher, but he's a distant person and would have to work on the whole "playing" aspect.

Book is... very old. I can't even picture it, really. I imagine he might approach the whole thing too abstractly, try to be rational about everything and get frustrated by the reality of it all, hehe.

Mal... oy. I think he'd be one of those very traditional, strict, authoritarian fathers. Fiercely protective, very encouraging, but also very firm and not overtly demonstrative in his affection the older the kids get. Not unlike he is with Kaylee and River. A girl would probably have it easier getting to see his gentle side than a boy.

Wash would be the best because he is the most natural dad. He seems like the kind of guy that kids like right away. Jayne would be a great dad for his kids, but they would learn all the wrong things! And let's not talk about anyone who made his kid cry... Simon would be the dad that didn't know anything practical, like how to change a diaper or hold a baby, but he would learn after several hard tries. Book would be a good father, but he is content to watch over others. Mal's kids would mellow him a lot and make him happy. He would be surprised to find out he is good with kids.

Entirely pointy.

Look at the commitment Simon has to his sister. I think he would be the best father.
