I have three sons (23, 20, 17...we have excellent timing). All three are exceptional young men, all three are interested in the performing arts (one as a writer, one as a director, one as an editor, believe it or not), and all three have grown up around things fantastical: science fiction, fantasy. Two are now in college, and while the four of us haven't spent the time together we used to, the Old Man got the Firefly DVD for Christmas and we have made a point of watching all the episodes. My sons had never seen the series, and the experience of watching the shows together, and analyzing the incredible writing, amazing set-ups, wonderful performances...will forever be some of the best memories of my life. When all is said and done, that's what this is all about. Yes, it's entertainment...but watching like this harkens back to the days when I was a kid, where the whole family would watch the house's SINGLE TV and laugh together, cry together and actually TALK to each other about the show afterwards. I thank you for that, Joss. I owe you one.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Great story Tiger73. Nice to have a new face & hope to see you post regularly.

I can relate. I have a son that is 10 years old now and he has become a Firefly fan. It is really great to sit down with my son and watch some quality TV (in this case DVD) and be able to talk about it after it is over. It is always great to have something in common your child, something you can share and both of you have an interest in.

When the movie comes out, both of us will be right there on the first day, tickets in hand.
