goodmornin everyone,

So, Serenity weekend looks to be a success. Lots of new friends and many new recruits. I do have a question for the many folk that were involved though.

How many other sites other than FFF.net were involved? I mean this is a great place, I love it here. But what of the other fan sites. Did anyone meet browncoats that lodge elsewhere? I think Fireflyfan.net was a very big part of "Serenity Day" I was just wondering if others joined in?

Can someone post if they know, thanks

Z

Serenitymovie.org was in, Whedonesque was in.
Heck, even Highlander-community got in on it. (But then NYPinta and I kinda nagged them into it over there.)

We did pretty well at getting the word out to all of the Browncoat communities.
I wish we could have gone further to get new recruits from outside the fandoms, though.

There were two individuals who were part of the Browncoat Signal Corps who banged the drum in the Star Trek fandom (geeks helping geeks) and the NUMB3RS fandom (much love for David Krumholtz).

Sam, since you're looking to go pan-fandom, you could always consider checking in on fandoms for movies/shows that have the BDHs in them. The reception will probaby be warmer than most as there's common ground. Other than that, I would suggest generic SF communities - I've found a lot of Browncoats in those kinds of places.

If you can't do something smart, do something right.

Thanks guys,

the fandom arena is not a small, narrow one.

You said it, Zisker.

Agatsu said the event committee is planning today. As soon as we know what's up, we should all coordinate our efforts to really spread the signal.

I think we missed a huge opportunity with the Charity screenings to get womens groups out enforce to see the film. By focusing just on the Browncoats, we didn't get the word out to those groups who gladly support womens equality and missed gaining new fans for the film.

Lessons learned. We'll do better next time!

As someone who has lived, breathed and promoted a dying franchise for 10 years, it's nice to have something that I can really believe in to get behind! :)

Yep. I'm handing over the BSC to the Serenity Summer people since I can't do it anymore.

You ought to email Bix with that suggestion - if he intends to do an annual drive, that is. Which I hope will become the tradition since, theoretically, it will raise more each year with the expanding fanbase.

If you can't do something smart, do something right.

Don't expect too much too soon, please - we do quite a few planning chats, and we wanna make sure we know what we're doing - and that we're doing it right - before going "public". But rest assured that we have a looooooong list with ideas to not only promote FF and Serenity to the max, but also keep y'all busy with fun stuff in the process, plus a few neat surprises. Just a little more patience, please, and keep those ideas coming!

Absolutely, Agatsu.
We'll do it right or not at all.

In the meantime, Thank you notes to the theaters, sponsors and advertising media who generously offered their time and efforts to make the Charity screening a success are a great first step!
