SINGATE

What a great performance. Finally Eddie Vedder sheds some light on his lyrics. Though I knew what most of the songs were about I can remember having endless discussions on the meaning of certain verses.

It seems as Vedder gets older he is becomming more accepting of his rock star status. In the past ten years I have rarely heard him speak or seen any appearances by the band on television. Since their most recent album has come out they seem to be popping up everywhere.

I didn't realize how anti-Republican/Bush the band was, nor how many of their songs are direct assaults on the current state of affairs in the U.S. Never been a fan of any celebrities' political rantings including the ones I admire. Fortunately I can seperate their beliefs from the great music they have mananged to turn out over the last fifteen or so years.

After watching the performance there is no doubt in my mind that Vedder is one of the great front men of all time and Pearl Jam as a whole are still one of the best live acts around. I have seen them twice in concert, if they manage to visit my neck of the woods I will defenitely be seeing them again.
