A geek is merely someone who is commited to something. I'd say if you come to this site, you're commited to it. I always have to be obsessed with something: I've gone through my Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings stages. Firefly is definitely one of the best "geek" things.

Goodnight, and have a pleasant tomorrow.

EXODUS

I would classify myself as somewhat of a Firefly/Serenity geek. I mean, I do not really preach it to strangers nor do I wear any Firefly/Serenity apparel in public. That being said, I have been able to somewhat convert some of my friends and I do plan on getting a Serenity T-Shirt from a comic store downtown next time I go. Overall, I may not be the biggest Firefly/Serenity geek in the 'verse, but I sure am a Firefly/Serenity geek none the less.

SAVEWASH

Now I am learning about scary.

I was in a mall in the "big city" recently and spotted a Hot Topic store, which they definitely do not have in the little town where I live. On a whim, I dashed in and wandered around. Soon enough, there I was--tall, scrawny, in my early 40s, rather mundane appearance--facing a lad probably in his early twenties with multiple lip and nose piercings and spiky hair, who'd asked if he could help me find anything. I asked, "Do you happen to have any Serenity t-shirts?" His face lit up and he said, "Yeah, I still have some left." He hurried to the back and found a large, which was too big for me, so he went to another sales clerk and asked if they had any mediums left. Moments later he returned to me in triumph with a medium. I didn't even ask how much the t-shirt cost, I just set down my credit card, and we chatted about how great the movie was and then moved on to talking about the show.

If being a geek means I can talk with all sorts of interesting people whom I might never otherwise encounter, then I'm a geek. Browncoats come in all shapes and sizes, and our love of the BDS/BDM makes those differences irrelevant.

I'd like to avoid the impalement, though.

I don't know that I qualify as a geek but I try.

There were no screenings in my area. In fact, I had to drive an hour and 15 minutes to see the BDM because us hicks in the sticks didn't even get it at our movie theater on opening day.

I did, however, break in my new credit card buying another copy of the movie. I work for a children's home and donated to the movie collection, since they're always looking for donations of movies. Hopefully, I will get a few converts out of the kids.

Live as though the world were as it should be, to show it what it can be.

DIRTWEED

I guess I am. I try to get converts as I can. Shiny has made it into my vocabulary....better than the other weird saying I used to use when people as how I am today. Plus it has alerted me to a few fans locally....Nice.

I usually watch an ep or part of one just about daily on my iPod. Didn't make it to the SD screening as Albany was a bit of a ride for me here in Rochester....plus had some family stuffs to do.

So yeah just another thing to add to my geekness in life, but I do try to keep it in the closet as I do have to 'act' like a professional at work.
