Hi! I'm brand new to this forum, although I post regularly at TWoP. I'm from the UK.

I've been making custom Buffy and Angel figures for some time and I've now branched out into making a Firefly line.

*These are just for fun, not for sale*

So far, I've done Captain-Tightpants Mal, Faithful-Second-in-Command Zoe, Uptight-Doctor Simon and Bit-Handy-with-a-Gun-for-a-Shepherd Book.

You will find these by clicking on the Firefly button in the left hand frame, then browsing the thumbnails along the top.

I'm planning one of each of the other 5 title characters in the next few weeks.

I've also done Nathan as Loony-Loosepants Caleb in Buffy Season 7 and Gina as Diva-Deity Jasmine in Angel Season 4.

SHINY

Very Shiny! I especially like the Zoe figure (maybe you can find a sawed off shotgun from some old G.I. Joe set for her gun?)

RIVER
Purple elephants are flying.
MAL
Good. Thanks for the update.

Wow! I LOVE action figures! (I've got a bunch of Jurassic Park ones). Those are totally the collest thing!

How do you do that? How do you "trim" and "mold" it and stuff?

Very cool. You've done an amazing job.

Those are really great. I have a suggestion.

Call them the "Space Cowboy," "Space Cowgirl," "Space Preacher," and "Space Doctor" with a big wink and you'll make a KILLING on Ebay or through Paypal.

Thanks for the feedback! It encourages me to make more figures!

Next up will be Jayne (possibly with a statue accessory).

My must-have purchases from the craft shop are: super-sculpey, scalpel, tiny pointy stick, tiny wedgy stick, liquidex paints and uni-gell pens.

*If you try this at home, my tip with the super-sculpey is to boil it. You’re supposed to bake it, but I dread to think what that would do to the plastic figure!*

I spend a week or so analysing episodes, gathering quotes, photographing the telly, buying the optimum base figure and chasing my muse round the room. Then I go at it like Edward Scissorhands… the actual sculpting and painting can be done in an evening!

Has anyone else done Custom Firefly Figures? If so, please point me to the link as I'd love to see them.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Wow MsBigPileofDust, those are great. The Mal figure looks fantastic. Great work on the coat and the rest of the outfit. Zoe looks the closest to the real article, she just needs a sawed of Winchester.

Can't wait to see the Jayne figure.

Welcome to the board!

I obviously need to pay closer attention to the guns! It must be because I'm a Brit... even our policemen don't have guns, so we're a bit innocent!

So... if I find a toy rifle and chop the barrels down, will that be right?

If you can find a Winchester M1894 lever action carbine in scale & chop it down, that would be great. I would imagine the exact model would be hard to find, but you should be able to find something close. Hobby stores here in the States carry them and there are websites on the net that sell scale replicas of nearly any weapon you can think of.
