Attention!

The California Browncoats are pleased to announce our plans for this year's Comic-Con fan tables, fundraiser and charity auctions throughout the summer (and into the fall). You won't want to miss out, and you don't even have to go to Comic-Con to be part of the excitement!

VISIT THE FAMOUS BROWNCOATS BOOTH AT COMIC CON 2006!!!

Our fan tables (yes we have 2 this year) will be shiny indeed. They will be filled with all kinds of Firefly and Serenity merchandise for you to purchase. Come by and check out the swag and sparklies, and see lots of Browncoat faces. Visit our website for the current list of items we will have for sale ( http://www.californiabrowncoats.org/CABC/merchandise.htm) including some never seen before merchandise.

HELP OUT A GREAT CAUSE CHOSEN BY ADAM BALDWIN HIMSELF!!!

This year the main purpose of the booth is raising money for the Marine Corps – Law Enforcement Foundation ( www.MCLEF.org). You ask, why MCLEF? Well, it's all due to that lovable mercenary in the cunning hat. ADAM BALDWIN is playing a key part in our summer fundraising, and he has personally chosen MC-LEF as a worthy cause doin' good works. Adam is giving us his shooting script from Serenity as the Grand Prize in our "Thank You" drawing on July 23. It is signed by 8 of the cast members and Joss Whedon (he is trying to track down Alan Tudyk to add that last signature). It's in a nice leather bound folder given to him by Universal (check out the pictures on our site). http://www.californiabrowncoats.org/CABC/prizelist.htm

MC-LEF is a 4 star rated charity that provides college scholarships and medical assistance to the children of fallen Marines and other law enforcement personnel. Please check out the good works they do on their website www.mclef.org.

WIN AWESOME PRIZES FROM FIREFLY/SERENITY, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, STARGATE, KING KONG AND MORE!!!

Adam’s Serenity script is only the Grand Prize. You'll also have a chance to win dozens of other prizes in our “Thank You” drawing. We will have items from all over the `verse, not just Firefly and Serenity. This is your chance to get other fandoms interested in a Browncoat event. We just got started receiving donated prizes, and already there are signed photos from Babylon 5 and Stargate, and a cool prop from King Kong. We expect to have many more exciting prizes before Comic Con.

Now you're probably thinking, enough with all the prize talk, how can I donate? And how do I get entered into the “Thank You” prize drawing?

You can donate in 3 different ways:

1. You can donate cash or money orders in person at the Browncoat tables at Comic-Con in San Diego, July 19-July 23. The table location will be posted as soon as we get it assigned by Comic-Con.

In person donations must be received by 1:00 PM PST Sunday July 23, 2006. If you donate after 1:00 PM July 23rd, your money will still go to MC-LEF but you will not receive any entries in the prize drawing.

2. You can donate online via Paypal to

donate@californiabrowncoats.org

Within 24 hours of our receipt of your cleared Paypal donation we will e-mail you with the numbers of your tickets. Tickets will not be mailed to donors. Online donations must be received by Midnight PST July 14th, 2006. If you donate after July 14th, your money will still go to MC-LEF but you will not receive any entries in the prize drawing.

3. You can mail a Money Order in US funds made out to California Browncoats here:

California Browncoats
c/o James Riley
13655 Santa Ana Avenue
Fontana, CA 92337

Within 24 hours of your cleared money order donation we will e-mail you with the numbers of your tickets. Tickets will only be mailed to donors who provide a S.A.S.E. We must receive your money order by July 14th, 2006. If we receive your money order after July 14th, your money will still go to MC-LEF but you will not receive any entries in the prize drawing.

You will be entered into the drawing by donating money in one of the 3 ways described above. For every $2.00 US you donate, you will receive 1 entry in the drawing as our way of saying Thanks! That means $20 will get you 10 entries, $100 will get you 50, etc.

All the details and a handy donation button are on our website:

http://www.californiabrowncoats.org

WANT A CHANCE TO OWN ONE OF 14 AUTOGRAPHED ORIGINAL FIREFLY SHOOTING SCRIPTS?

Adam also donated all 14 of his shooting scripts from Firefly!! Yes, you read that right, his personal copies for every single episode. And they are ALL signed by cast and crew, with slight variations on the particulars. At his request, these will be auctioned on eBay over the coming months. Please check our site for all the details.

http://www.californiabrowncoats.org/CABC/script.htm

WIN AN AUTHENTIC SERENITY COSTUME!!!

Plus, as an added bonus, we have an authentic costume from Serenity that we will be auctioning on eBay starting August 9th. This is the medical disguise costume Sean Maher wears as Simon while rescuing River from the Alliance donated by the Prop Store of London ( www.propstore.com). This special auction will benefit Equality Now. All the details can be found here

http://www.californiabrowncoats.org/CABC/simon.htm

HELP US DO GOOD WORKS!!!

Sign up to volunteer at the booth this year by e-mailing your name, phone number and availability during the convention to info@californiabrowncoats.org. For more information see the volunteering page on our website.

http://www.californiabrowncoats.org/CABC/volunteer.htm

Now is that enough to get you excited about Comic-Con 2006 and the rest of the summer? We sure think so! We'd like to ask you all a big favor (besides donating to the charity or volunteering to help at the tables). Can you spread the news across the web, at your jobs, with your family and friends, and anywhere else? You can tell them all about our efforts to include other fandoms in our prize drawing. Feel free to repost this message to LJ's, other message boards, your website, etc. We hope to have a banner made soon for you to place on your sites.

We want to show the world Browncoats are here to stay! And with your help we can make this an incredible event.

If you have any questions, please check out our website FAQ. But if you can't find the answer there, email us at
info@californiabrowncoats.org.

Thank You!

I know! And we haven't even put everything up yet. We just got in a money display from the Prop Store. There are some cool promos from past Comic-Cons that were donated. Robert Trebor (Salmoneus from Hercules) has sent some items that haven't srrived yet. And Kevin J. Anderson said he would bring some props from Children of Dune with him to the con. Oh, and we are hoping to have John Csssaday sign some Mal cover #1's and X-Men comics.

We will be updating the page until right before Comic-Con.

We are going to need both hours of our meeting room just to give all this away!

I can't decide which prize I'd want to win most :)

BTW, another Browncoat thing to check out at Comic-Con is the screening of "Done the Impossible" with Q & A after with the filmmakers. It is being shown as an extra feature in the Comic-Con Independent (Heh) Film Festival. It's showing 8-10 pm on Saturday, 7/22 in Room 6B.

This year at the San Diego Comic-Con there will be a showing of our BDM Serenity.
Specifics are as follows:

Manchester Grand Hyatt Randle Ballroom
Friday July 21, 7:00 pm: Serenity (2005) PG-13 (for sequences of intense violence and action, and some sexual references). Joss Whedon’s Firefly is summed up as we rejoin the crew of Serenity as they try to find out once and for all what the doc’s sister is all about.

Yes, the mission, and we've chosen to accept it, is to convert as many people into Browncoats over the 5 day convention weekend as possible!

As I type this you have 5 hours and 30 minutes to donate online to be entered in the Thank You prize drawing for our Comic-Con fundraiser. The deadline is Midnight PST tonight!

We've just received word of a few last minute prizes that will be donated at Comic-Con.

Brad Meltzer is donating a signed advance reader copy of his new book "The Book of Fate" (due Sept 5) and a signed "Jack and Bobby" TV script. He will also be signing a few copies of Superman/Batman #26.

Author Aaron Allston is donating a signed copy of his Star Wars novel "Betrayal" and a copy of the cover flat for the book (unfolded dust cover).

We are going to try and get many more prizes donate at Comic-Con, so you will hopefully have a chance to win even more items than are currently listed.

Please visit our site and donate to a great cause, either tonight before midnight or at our tables (A11/A12) at Comic-Con.

Thank you all for your support!
