I'm just curious, if we had the money to buy an island where we all could live, would we rather do that, or bring Firefly back to television?

Ok, so not exactly an Imponderable, but I'm curious what everyone else thinks. Live on an island populated exclusively with Browncoats, or see Firefly back on the air?

Nah, it's just that I always wanted the island life, simple, but meaningful. And all the things it entails. I think in another life I was fish.

EDIT: Sorry, but I'd choose island life. I love Firefly, but what good is new content if your other life is crap? I can make up new stories in my head. I can't make up a new life in my head.

That's tough, but I'd rather have Firefly back because if we did buy our own Island we would need to develop it, form a governmemnt and do all sorts of stuff so I think that we should focus our efforts of the return of Firelfy to the air rather than secession from the world.

But then no one would meddle. The idea of an island is very much the idea of owning Serenity for Mal. - at least to me anyway. Hell, Serenity Island is a cool name.

Serenity Island....think about that? An island populated with Browncoats.I'm giggling at the thought. A random thread gets pounced on here quicker than cat nip at the vet and then filled with the thoughts of crazy folk (I mean that in a good sense).

Lol, I love muppet treasure island!

Bah, firefly or the island...

I'll have to go with firefly, the island seems good on paper, but I dunno, communes throughout history have tried to form a utopia, and most have failed. Not that I don't think we could do it, but it seems the riskier of the two ventures.

I don't mind being apart of an already set government. I just like the idea of Browncoats in close proximity with the tease of tropical paradise.

Don't turn out like me CP, a lonely man who hates everything. I too, have lost a great deal of interests in doing things anymore. It may be the pax, but I think it's something deeper.

I wish I could say the right words. I would say it's not so bad being single, but I am not the best liar. However, it is possible to rebound. Can't let one boy bring you down. We're stupid and do stupid things like hurt other people.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Alright, starting from the last thread: Animal cruelty bad, this is agreed.
Um, can't say I ever looked at someone and was suddenly attracted to them. I suppose it wouldn't be out of the question, though.
Positions... There are many I enjoy. I agree with MsG that the angle is right when man is on top, but you get that same angle from the "black bee" position (the one from Heart of Gold, that's the exact one) and that one is my favorite. In fact, the basic cowgirl is the only one I don't like that much because sometimes it is painful with the angling. Other than that, I have met very few positions I didn't like. Though I do like it when both people are active, there are certain positions when I have to do all the moving or it hurts, also certain times I like the man to do all the moving. Also certain times I can't move because I've turned to goo. Ooooh, MsG's mentioned on the side kinda spooning position is very nice too... Yeah, very few I don't like.
*ahem* moving on.
Yes, This Land! This Is-Land! This Browncoat Is-Land! Yes! I am on board with that. Oooh, I like serenity Island...
3.2 million isn't bad. I've known people to spend that much for a business space. Happens all the time. Of course, then they make money off it sometimes.

Copilot, honey, what have you done to yourself?

I'm not sure this is really an imponderable, but it sort of is.
OK, for those of you who use or have used internet dating sites, do the "winks" get on your nerves? They really bother me. Especially when I check the profile and it's obvious I have nothing in common with the person and they'll just basically take anything they can get.
OK, so on the site I re-activated recently, this guy winked at me. His profile says he's looking for "women, 18-45". Not very picky on age, is he? Then I read his "ideal match" description and the 'vital stats' he put in are 4'5"-5'2", copper or red hair, curvy or full-bodied, and Christian. Aside from curvy, I am none of those. So I asked him what he found attractive about me in the first place. He said we seem to have a lot of common interests. I don't see it.
*le sigh* I'm so frustrated.

I would like to do alot of things, I suppose most people would. There's the obvious things, like traveling to Europe, bungee jumping, going on a cruise, etc... I don't care if I'm a total loser for posting this but I would like to go to a Firefly convention or just one with our BDH's in it. I'm goign to my first concert on the 20th so that's one experience I don't need have on the list anymore (Ringo Starr! I'm really psyched!) There's more, but that's enough from me. I've never used a dating site so I'm sorry I can't respond to you PhoenixRose. I guess that's oen more thing I need to experience, a romantic relationship. (Probably shouldn't be sharing all of this...oh well)

Copilot, there is always something that matters, always something that should to be cared about, even if it is as simple as tommorow's life. Although I have never had a girlfriend and thus can only know a shadow of what others have felt, I do know that there are people out there who care about you; all you have to do is find them, they may be closer than you think

I'd like to fly. Not sure if ski-diving, hang-gliding, parasailing, or indoor skydiving is the way to go about that, but I'd like to do one of those sometime. At least one.
At Six Flags Elich Gardens here in Colorado there's this huge swing thingy. It's kind of like bungee, but also kind of like flying. Man that thing is fun. But it's an additional charge from park admision, so I didn't get to do it that much. If it was actually part of the main park I would just ride it all day, I swear.

Sounds awesome. I'm a roller coaster gal myself, but I've always wanted to go bungee jumping, some sort of strange appeal there. Parasailing I think I would be afraid of, but there's always some appeal in the ability to fly, until of course some scientist comes up with a way to make people fly in pill form, then it will just become typical and boring.

sky diving, though i'd probably panic when the ground started getting close, while you're high up, love the sensation of flying, when the ground gets close, turns to falling. yeurrgh!

or does it just feel like falling all the time?

other thing i'd like to do? i'm going to so start whining - get a job that i want to do, maybe move to the states, i reckon i'd like it there, depite your president. drive, i need to do, but i've no hope of owning a car, so theres no point. But if i got one i'd be naming her Serenity, for the obvious connotations. FREEDOM!

yes, the winks from site generally do annoy me. actually, i became very tough, i wouldn't even reply to them, and i'd only very rarely reply to the 'hey saw your profile, you look nice, wanna chat?' messages.

It was a case of they obviously didn't read my profile properly, or they'd have something to ask me about, or they just have no imagination.

Tip guys, if you reply to a profile, regardless of your intentions, be specific, mention something in the profile, ask a question - show interest! it bypasses the awkwardness and gives her an actuall reason to reply to you.

aw.... i'm kinda diappointed that my comment on, ahem, 'in-flight head massages' didn't get more of a 'i'll be in my bunk' reaction. but only mildly.

Your robot reminds me of you. You tell it to turn it stops. You tell it to stop it turns. You ask it to take out the garbage it watches reruns of Firefly.

Good Morning everyone....

new day, new thread - amazing!

first of all, to CoPilot... wish i could offer comfort.....usually i find solice in words of songs... and one of my favorite Dylan tunes is To Ramona

I'd forever talk to you,
But soon my words,
They would turn into a meaningless ring.
For deep in my heart
I know there is no help I can bring.
Everything passes,
Everything changes,
Just do what you think you should do.
And someday maybe,
Who knows, baby,
I'll come and be cryin' to you.

be well - you have many supporters here

I SLEPT!!!!!!!!!! From about 10pm to 6am! I got 8 hours sleep! I feel so much better today! I didn't put anything save caffine in my body yesterday and I feel much better. I thought I wanted to die but then everyone convinced me I was just coming down from a two day high and I would be just fine once my head cleared. I didn't really care or believe them but I fell alseep anyway and guess what they were right! Now all I have to do is go take a shower and find litium. My brain barely needs anything besides a over the counter dietary supliment to balance out. I just feel better so I stop taking it. Now there's no one around to make me take it so....... This happens.

Because my head is finally clear I'm relizing what I've been doing and it makes me really unhappy. I decided I was in love with someone I barely knew. I've gotten myself kicked out of my home and I'm about to be fired from my job!!!!!!!!! Why didn't this stuff matter more to me while it was happening? I screamed at Former SO for hours but he still faithfully calls me back I think just to make sure I'm still alive.

wow... i was a drummer in rock bands in high shcool/college - all i ever got were stupid drummer jokes.....

What do you call a drummer with half a brain?
Gifted.

What do you call someone who hangs around with musicians?
A drummer.

What did the drummer get on his IQ test?
Drool.

Why do bands have bass players?
To translate for the drummer.

How can you tell a drummer is walking behind you?
You can hear his knuckles dragging on the ground.

What's the difference between a drummer and a drum machine?
You only have to punch the information into the drum machine once.

Did you hear about the bass player who locked his keys in the car?
He had to break a window to get the drummer out!

We know a guy who was so dumb his teacher gave him two sticks and he became a drummer, but lost one and became a conductor.

How do you know when a drummer is knocking at your door?
The knock always slows down.

I asked my drummer to spell "Mississippi"...
He said, "the river or the state?"

How do you know if a drummer's platform is level?
The drool comes out of both sides of his mouth.

How do trumpet players park in the handicap spots?
They put drumsticks on the dash.

How many drummers does it take to change a light bulb?
Five. One to change it, and the other four to stand around and talk about how much better Neil Peart would have done it!

Two drummers walk into a bar, which is actually kind of funny, because you would think that the second guy would have seen the first one do it.

What do you call a dozen drummers at the bottom of the sea?
A good start!!

Did you hear about the drummer who got into college?
No.
Neither did I.

edit: ok so i misspelled school..... i guess i've proved my point...

My favorite was a guy who winked, had no info on his profile, but I dropped him a line anyway just to see who he was. And he send me a list of questions without saying anything about himself.

SEE YA!!

I'm actually getting exhausted with sending mail to men I hardly know. And I haven't send that many! I actually really enjoy my life as a single, except the no sex and no cuddling and no dates and no one to make me dinner. And the obvious conveniences - putting in a new garden path by myself was hella hard work.

OK, so having an SO would be better, but only if he fits into my happy little zone.

Anyway - you people that hate being single - I think the biggest reason I'll always be on my own is that I don't mind it so much. That sucks in a weird way. (Did that make sense?)

If you can handle their "America is the best country in the world and we'll bomb your terrorist ass if you feel differently" mentality, then come on over and hang out! Just stay clear of Ohio, it's kinda boring.

Tristan - Pyramids are right on my list. I'm an ancient history nut. Too much stargate over the years has got me interested in the real thing. Actually, any type of historical site would be a treat. But Egypt is on top.

PhoenixRose - Hmm, I am going to feel stupid, but I honestly thought you were complaining about people who use emoticons too much.

- No really, I did! I need some coffee... It's going to be a long day.

Kenobius, I live in my own little world when it comes to history...actually have a Masters in it...and I was lucky enough to live in France for awhile and got to see the castles, towns, historic sites, etc. I do regret never making it to Egypt, though. Hopefully, I'll get back there one day!
By the way, saw the photo of your theatre over in the other thread. Looks good! I have pictures of the theatre my brother and I ran on my computer at home...I'll try to get them somewhere on the web. I am a big fan of the smaller, "guerilla"-type theatres. Thank you for sharing.

Strawberry cheesecake icecream...I must have missed that post. That does sound good right about now, though...

I have nothing to add, but I'll chime in on the online dating sites. Never used one, but I can see how they could be amusing if you didn't take them too seriously.

I think 18-45 just means that 35 is ideal 18 is a dream and 45 is the oldest acceptable age. Just my opinion.

Thank you all for helping me feel better these last few days.

The problem with my job is that our market is getting a new general manager. Which means someone new with no knowledge of who we are coming in to clean house.

Oh well I was going to quit in two weeks anyway. I just need to quit before I get fired. This town is full of people I need to avoid and experiences I wish I'd never had. Also I work for the same company as Former SO. So you know day after day of seeing him come to work happy looking all half ravaged by his new girl.....Makes me want to vomit on my shoes.

Copilot, never quite thought of the age thing that way. Huh. Kinda makes sense. Thanks!
Sorry to hear about the job. Do you have anything lined up to replace it?

I know, I don't believe a bit of it is true, but it's still wicked funny.

Glad you're feeling better. Maybe leaving your job will actually be a good thing, (I'm guessing) but it must be rather awkward having to see him everyday. It does sound like it's just an opportunity in disguise, find a new job, a better job, with more people you like.

MSG

Tristan- just to even things up here's my favorite joke ( which by the way gets me in trouble with a lot of women)
Why do they call PMS ( premenstrual syndrome) PMS?
Because mad cow disease was already taken:)

ooh I have an imponderable... guys would you be comfortable with a woman who was stronger than you..I mean significantly physically stronger...and women would you be ok if you were the buff/strong one in the relationship ( and I do realize with our big buff guys on this thread that we are sort of entering the imagination area, but just pretend)

I choose to rise instead of fall- U2
