This has been discussed before, but I wanted to put all of the info together for those of us who haven't been able to read it all.

The Sci-Fi channel is airing a marathon of Firefly this friday. The more people tune into it, the better.

Next step is to write to them. Tell them we appreciate it. Tell them we will continue to support Firefly, whether it be old or new material. (Don't bash FOX. They may have cancelled the show, but without them we never would have had it in the first place.)

Use brown paper if you have it. They see enough brown paper and they'll notice that something is up.

I dunno BigWolf18,

Can you do some research for us so we know if it's showing elsewhere too?

I don't know where to check online for British SciFi or I would. Or other countries either.

The links for "Sci-Fi Worldwide" are at the bottom of the scifi.com home page. I can't find Firefly anywhere on the european page. Sounds like another good thing to write them about.

We can't have this thread falling off the main page. We're halfway thru the week and need to remember to get this thing done!

I'll be posting soon for more volunteers to post on other sites. We have some work to do this week before we can all sit back and relax and enjoy the marathon.

I myself am going to write SciFi an email the day of the marathon. Then Saturday I'm going to sit down and compose a letter in long hand neatly and with much thanks to the snail mail addy for SciFi.

Thanks everyone for taking part and doing such a good job!

Guerilla Marketing Week. A focused week of poster plastering, poster handing out and also room for such things as moving Serenity to the front of the shelf in a movie rental store. Taking bookmarks about Firefly and Serenity and inserting them in comics and books at bookstores and comic shops. Putting up posters at your work, your school, where you shop or even the video rental shop if they will let you. What about your favorite coffee shop, do they have a bulletin board? You get my drift.

The posters are on this thread.. download 'em, put 'em up!

http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=22141

Use the banners you see here to go forth and post on sites you frequent and remind folks of the show being on this Friday.

Tivo and DVR the show tomorrow! Someone somewhere may be keeping track of this and we want to let them know.

Write SciFi via email and also snail mail.
Brown paper, white paper, just be sure and do it folks! Let 'em know how much we appreciate them showing it and how much we'd love to have it on all the time. And come back with new eps.
The addresses are on this thread. If we all do it together, they have to see how many of us there are!

I plan on calling and emailing tomorrow. I will attempt a handwritten brown paper LOVE LETTER to Scifi this weekend.

Charge Browncoats! If we all try to ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING; call, email, write etc you never know what might happen. We must really take action now - not just talk about it. (Note: the "kickinthepants, getoffyourbuttandDOsomething -ness above was geared toward myself as well, so I'm not chastising anyone. Simply trying to motivate myself and possibly others.) So let's start writing some love letters okay.

We need vids to spread the word all thru myspace and beyond.
We'll be starting that when the contest is over at the end of August. We only have the one entrant.

C'mon everybody, if you don't have the equipment, post an idea and ask someone who does to help.

IMTHINKINWELLRISEAGAIN

Excellent idea. I have more to elaborate on the subject as well. Please read the whole thing, it will only take a minute or two. To everyone who reads this take my advice under serious cosideration. In my opinion the only way to get Firefly back on the air is to appeal to the right network. As we have seen, this is most definitely the sci-fi channel. I'm gorram serious when I say this, and we all know they are serious because of this marathon.
Next comes the issue of making it worth their while, after all they do broadcast shows based on public approval and ratings. I think the only appropriate thing to do is to let them know how much we love this show. Tp let them know the lengths we will go to to get this show back on the air. To show that we have to write emails, and preferably letters because they show our conviction more than typing up a couple of words and sending them via the internet. Letters take time, especially if they're written well, and the folks at TV stations pay more attention to them. Here's the address for the guy to write to at sci-fi channel: Barry Schulman Sci-fi Channel 1230 Avenue of the Americas New York, NY 10020.
I urge everyone who reads this not only to follow my advice but to spread word of the show to those who have not experienced it. Lend DVDs, have screenings, anything to spread awareness of the show and our cause. Also, spread word of this post and the actions I suggest to any and all forums possible so we may gather the full support of all browncoats everywhere, and to make our movement all the more important. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I'm thinkin' we'll rise again

Just a suggestion- if you can't find brown paper (or the only brown paper you can find is the heavy construction paper kind) you can always put a Browncoat/Firefly/Serenity watermark on regular printer paper in Word and print it out for stationary. Here's the traditional meaning:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watermark
http://www.neenahpaper.com/privatewatermarks/

In the desktop printer age, it could mean printing a ghosted-back image onto your paper BEHIND the letter that you're printing on it. The "watermark" and text can either be done at the same time, depending on your layout program, or the "watermark" can be printed first, then the letter text printed later. Or you can just have your "watermarked" paper printed out and then write on it longhand.

Our new currency sports true watermarks now, following in the footsteps of currency overseas.

Hope this helps!

Here's the email I sent, hopefully light and fluffy and not to fan-crazy:

Hey there SciFi Channel,

I just wanted to drop you a line to say thank you so much for the Firefly marathon you broadcast Friday, July 14th. I was off from work and immediately DVRed the whole run.

Firefly, IMHO, is one of the great unsung heroes of television, so thank you for airing it.

After watching the episodes off and on over the weekend, I was intrigued by the Stargate: Atlantis teaser ads and am probably on my way to an addiction, as I’m now trying to catch up on the first two seasons. Your teasers for your shows are a cut above the rest. Did you do ones for Firefly? I would have loved to have seen them if you did. You folks are darned creative, and I appreciate your hard work.

Again, thank you for giving this gem of a show another chance to be seen. May you re-broadcast it often in future, or perhaps entertain the idea of bringing it back as a mini-series or SciFi series!

Best wishes,
me

Thanks FollowMal!

I had seen trailers for Serenity and had wanted to go see it but missed my opportunity to see it in theaters so I netflixed it a few months back. I liked what I saw so I decided to check out the series and after watching the first disc I was hooked. I bought the complete series and Serenity shortly thereafter and have considered myself a fan ever since.

I've never really participated in a forum like this before but this is a really great series and I want to see some more episodes damn it! Plus I figured every additional voice helps, right?

Welcome, Qtronics! Glad to have you aboard!

Hera explained about watermarks pretty well. (Thanks! ) I've got Word XP, but I'm pretty sure that the method for making them is pretty much the same in most Word programs. Here's how to do it:

1) Go online and get the image you want. I'm probably going to use the Serenity logo, as its pretty much the symbol for our cause.

2) Save your image somewhere where you'll find it easily. (I've lost pictures myself simply by not paying attention, but then again that could just be me.)

3) Open a Word document.

4) In the File, Edit, ect list, pull down Format.

5) In Format, go down to Background.

6) In Format, go down to Printed Watermark. That'll get you to a box with all the options for a watermark. Click on the Picture box and Select Picture and once you do, it should pop onto the document.

7) Once you've typed whatever you want on there or leave it blank or whatever you want to do with it, just print it.

And voila! Custom Browncoat stationary!

It feels so good to be helping out Firefly!! I'm working on my converts too and I've already got one friend almost through the show and the BDM and another still coming along!! I'll see if I can get them on here.

Mine is an evil sugar high laugh! Bwahahahaha!
