She'll very politely but sternly say... you know, Mom, this is more important than Firefly right now... this is real life, that is not.

And yet she is very understanding of my need to work at whatever I can to make a difference about trying to raise awareness of it. She's the one who suggested that myspace would be the place to really spread the word.

Hey the purpose of good fiction is to draw you in with willing suspension of disbelief and show you places you've never been and give you experiences you've never had and hopefully give you something that wasn't there before. It is meant to make a lasting impression and even change your life ( think Upton Sinclair's The Jungle or Uncle Tom's Cabin) and I'd say that this show has done that in spades... so relaity is relative. This show is real enough for me:)

All of my friends think I'm psycho over the show but they have just come to expect it. I think the mitigating factor was when I had "I am a leaf on the wind, watch how I soar" engraved on my ipod. And my ipod's name is Firefly, too.

Exactly...it just hasn't happened yet.

I have been an anime fanatic for years along with all my geeky friends. So my friends and family are used to it. Though with Firefly and Serenity they are enjoying it as well as it isn't another of those damn cartoons.

ONEMANSHORT

I have literally been forcing my mom to sit down in front of the tv screen and watch Firefly. She's constantly doing dishes, cleaning, etc...so i have to rewind the episode most of the time. She thinks I'm insane, so every funny scene I have to go "wait, wait, wait! This is hi-larious!" The worst I've gotten recently was "You're just watching this show to see Mal's bottom, aren't you?" So I get teased alot, by my parents, sad eh? My dad also teases me that officially the series dvd's aren't mine becasue I bought them for him for a present

. It's hard to tell my friends about it because they haven't seen it. But I'm known for becoming obsessed with things so they don't mind. I'm thinking of having a Firefly-themed sweet 16 to introduce all my friend to the 'verse. (Although it would take alot of planning)

For the last six months I have been berated by friends and family about my "obsession" with all things in the verse. I just kept telling them you know me, i dont get obsessed first of all and second of all if you guys would sit down and watch the show or even the movie (although i recomended to them investing the time in watching the series first) you would see what I am talking about this is the greatest show ever made and you should see it! "No way, we dont want to see your stupid space cowboy show". So i just went about my business loving the verse with the support of my fellow browncoats online..... Until we decided to have a movie night and guess what movie i picked (BDM). Take a wild guess on there opinion of the movie (why didnt you tell us about this before).... Ask me were my 4 copys of firefly are cause they aint with me.

hmmm I guess I'm lucky my hubby is also way into the show (and both kids) tho he does get annoyed when I constantly hum the theme song :wink mostly cuz it will then be stuck in HIS head

I get more grief over my World of Warcrack obsession lol
