Hi, everyone! I was recommended to check out this site by someone and I love it! Let me explain why I'm here...I'm a teacher and I have the summer off. I was at the video store looking to get into some stuff I had been meaning to check out for a while, and Firefly was one of them. I brought the first disc home...and four hours later I was back in my car to get the other three discs in the series. I pulled an all-nighter and even though I was extremely bleary-eyed and completely useless the next day, an obsessive fan was born.

Truly. I was amazed at the writing and the characterizations. I was hooked by the setting and the way the stories were played out with the amazing cast. I am hooked. I bought the series the next day, watched it again, went out and bought the movie, then logged on and bought two books about it. I am hooked.

Just thought I'd introduce myself...most of my friends haven't even heard of the series and despite my best efforts, they are not rushing out to watch it. I'm sure they'll get to it eventually, like I did (the poor suckers) but until then, it's nice knowing there's a whole community of people that know exactly how beautiful this show was. I've also read some of the fan-fics and they are quite good. Anyway, like I said, just wanted to say hello! I look forward to posting my two-cents every now and then!

hello there! its always cool to see new fans coming in here. I am also new to this place and the awesome 'verse of Firefly. You'll like it here and will probably get addicted and check the site like 20 times a day, but its all good. Most of the people here are very nice and open-minded but there are some that I think come here to just to make fun and start small trouble. but other than that, its pretty cool and the fanfic is pretty decent. hope you like it here! see you on the boards!

Snoops, I agree with you. I've been in the black until a day ago. I borrowed Serenity from a friend and then went out and bought it only 10 hours later. I keep watching it over and over again and love it. I ordered the Firefly DVDs from Amazon yesterday. Can't wait to get'em.

People seem to worry bout others joining the cause. I don't think that there is much to worry about. This show sells itself.

I look forward to reading more of everyone's thoughts. I'll share my own when I can. Take care all!

I also joined up just a month ago. Some friends raved about the show and now I've bought the show, the movie (twice, first time Fullscreen, yuck!) and the Those Left Behind comic. I'm actively recruiting by passing on Serenity and lending the disks. As we all know, to see is to love.

I'm thrilled at how tolerant the Original Browncoats are to the new recruits. The fanbase keeps getting bigger.

O.k. I'm just a good man. Well, I'm all right.

I've only been here about a year myself - so i can't be considered an original.... but you will find that everyone here is always very happy to have new recruits. Thanks for the story Snoopygubs. I always get a little nostalgic when i hear of the "first time" for new fans.... Firefly is a terrific show that deserves to be continued and that is what this site is all about....continuing the story and bringing new fans to the verse....

Snoopygubs and Pell,

As you've already heard, our dear crewmate FollowMal is usually in charge of handing out the browncoats to new recruits. But sometimes she gets busy.

So while you're waiting to be officially 'coated, please consider borrowing one of my patch-up jobs from the repair shop. They may not fit quite right, and cleanliness is only so-so. Still, they come with a lot of love in 'em.

If you decide to take one, use it as long as you please. Just drop it back in the storeroom when FM gets you a new one, so I can do some more recycling.

Oh, and before I forget: welcome! It's a small ship and seems to be getting a bit crowded, but we do manage to have a good time. Jump right in!

Thanks Doncoat. This loaner coat might be old but its shiny all the same.

Getting to do it all over again… I can see what you’re saying. That is why I spent the whole day on the bus going south this Saturday in order to buy a copy of “Those Left Behind”.

I was talking with my new LTs this morning before the ride and it seems that they’re all fans as well. Once the DVD set arrives I’m having them over for a viewing. Every one of them owns Serenity but none have seen Firefly. If one newbie makes you jealous, then five should make you plain mad. Amazon sent me notice that they shipped today so I should have an update for you within a fortnight.

By the way, the comic rocked. It made the bus ride back go ever so quick.
