Wow! Looks like we're getting more new recruits!

YEA!!!!!

I'm thinking that since the BDM (Big D@mn Movie) is showing on cable, we're like as not to get a bit of an up turn in new folks coming in, so....

Welcome to you all! First, we're all glad you fell in love with the show and the movie as we all have. We're doubly glad you've made your way here.

The purpose of this thread is to give ya'll a nice way to come on in and introduce your fine selves to our little corner of the internet 'verse.

You'll find the folks here by and large, happy to meet ya, glad to answer any questions ya got and fun to chat with.

After you've introduced yourselves, our own FollowMal will be along with a nifty and shiny virtual browncoat just for ya!

Lurkers, new and not, come on in and say 'hi!' We'd love to get to know ya as well!

So what are ya waiting for? Come on in!

Hi! *waves* I'm Erin and a new Firefly recruit! Fell in love with the show about three weeks ago after finding that I had a little bit of free time (which is rare for me) and decided to head to Hollywood Video and rent something. Saw the Firefly disc set, rented the first disc and then went out the next day and bought the whole thing! Bought Serenity when it came out but the husband kept telling me I couldn't fully appreciate the movie without seeing the series first (and I am inclinced to agree with him now!). He was a fan back when the show was on Fox and was crushed when they cancelled it. Now I can see why!

I love the sense of humor in the show and the nice blending of sci fi and old west. I am a HUGE Stargate SG-1, SGA and BSG fan, and this just goes along nicely with those three series I feel, rounding out my sci fi viewing.

A little whimsical in the brainpan

erinanderson: Welcome Home!
Welcome to our shiny Ship.

Have you been invited up to the
galley for a mug of Mudder's and
a dish of strawberries yet? Been
offered a dish of Wife Soup? Ice-
planet?
(We've been racing through the
threads, trying to welcome our
newest, with piecemeal success,
and tend to lose track.)

We love to hear how conversions
occur, and also how they are passed
along.

Hey!

I've been lurking for a while (~2 years), posted a few times here and there. My only claims to fame here are 1) posting a Serenity TV Guide article in the runup to the BDM and 2) suggesting a Quantum Leap-Serenity crossover.

In summary: I friggin' love Firefly and Serenity. 'Nuf said.

If there are any new recuits, definitely view the Done The Impossible DVD preview at http://www.serenitymovie.org/mirrors/done-the-impossible, and buy it at www.donetheimpossible.com.

I missed the wave due to deployment. Saw Serenity for the first time yesterday and bought the DVD 30 minutes after I finished watching the borrowed one.

While watching the Bonus section, I found out that not only did I miss the movie, but a whole T.V. show as well (also due to deployment). It really gave “out in the black” some meaning for me.

Amazon has confirmed my order for the DVD set and I can’t wait to receive it on this, my latest deployment. The story is awesome and has consumed my imagination.

I look forward to sharing with all involved.

Take care.

Welcome!

I know that soldiers often have down time...(Husband is a former Marine) so please please please throw a Firefly night wherever you are stationed and show the box set to everyone! Firefly parties seem to be a great way to introduce people to the 'verse.

We're glad you're here - stay safe wherever you are going.

With such a kind welcome, who could resist? I saw the show a few times when first broadcast, but it fell off my radar once canceled. I can't remember seeing a single ad. for the movie, so that didn't jog my memory. But a few months ago I caught the back end of a SciFi channel marathon and was hooked. Bought the series DVDs the next day and consumed them ravenous spirt. I was tickled to find the movie a few days later. Happened upon this site looking for news of a sequel or a return to TV (a' la Family Guy). Sadly, I've done enough research to know there's long odds on either. What the Hell, sometimes a longshot pays off...

Here:
http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=22398
is the current Caption thread.
Looks as if it's down to the votin' so
let's hear from everybody.
The old CAPTION 2 TIGHTPANTS had to be
retired by TCM because he was so busy
with all the other stuff.
This (above) thread has a habit of falling
off the bottom of the board, even the Top 100.
One of our favorite participants, the Evil
Emma Rigby, knows how to Google and find it
even when it seems to have disappeared.
More posting would keep it bumped.
(Hint, hint, all you creative newbies!)
ETA: 1) Anyone can vote.
2) Each round gets a fresh thread, so the
above is only good for Round 40.
3) The bun never votes for captions which
involve flatulence but recognizes that our
demo is broad and deep. And sometimes
fragrant. Heh.

I've been lurking here for awhile also, saw close the community was and just didn't really know how to jump into things..guess I can start with how I came to love Firefly and Serenity, I remember seeing the ads for Firefly before it debuted but I was in high school at the time and being home on any night for that matter seemed impossible so I didn't get to see it on its original tv run.

Eventually saw that dvds were available but never really had the money available to purchase the set, even though I was interested in watching, caught word of Serenity coming out on the internet I believe and thought I recognized the actors in it, then put 2 and 2 together and realized it was a continuation of Firefly..

Went out the next day bought the dvd set, watched in all the way through, thought it was an amazing series and couldn't believe that it was able to take off..Started lurking around the different firefly/serenity boards, really getting alot of info about everything...

Saw Serenity 4 times in theaters bringing different people with me each time, own the dvd, seems like I watch it once a week...Recently started watching the dvd set again and just decided to finally hop on here and make a post..So hello to everyone here and I look forward to posting more..

My e-mail notification stopped working quite a while ago so it's a bit hard for me to keep up with the number of threads in the main section. I don't really have much to add most of the time but I enjoy ghosting.

There's actually quite a few FFFn old-timers over in the RWED. We've been carrying on variants of the same discussion for coming up on two years now (the decision back in 2004 to split RWED threads into their own section was a really really really good one, we get a mite testy at times ).

Well, lesse... I've been lurking around here for a few months. Since about March, I think. Joined up in May. We don't have cable. (I know *gasp*) So, we missed Firefly entirely.

But we (the husband and I) are huge Sci-fi fans. (Our 9 month old son is named Anakin. LOL) And we'll give almost anything sci-fi related a try. So when we saw previews for the BDM we thought it was wicked cool!

We ended up not being able to see it in theatres, but rented it the week that it went to DVD. And I believe we bought the box set of Firefly about 2 weeks later. It took us that long to find it here. (We live in a somewhat small town in the foothills of the NC mountains.) We watched it straight for four days and I wanted to cry when it was over 'cause I knew there wouldn't be any more.

I've been re-watching a lot of the episodes lately. I see something new everytime. Plus I've developed an unhealthy obsession for all things Jayne and Jaylee. The Bule Sun Room is my friend. LOL

UNHOLYDOVE

I'm a fairly new Browncoat recruit. I fell in love with the show early this year and have lurked on this site and these boards for a couple months. I recently got back from Comic Con San Diego. My friend and I went as Wash and Kaylee and we had a great time. We saw a showing of Serenity at the Hyatt and sat in on the Done the Impossible screening (which was very fun). One of those days, Joss the man himself approached us and complimented my Kaylee costume, which was a huge shock! Got a picture with him ( http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=775787). Talk abotu a thrill considering I was a huge Buffy fan when it was on.

Anyway, I wanted to get a little more active in the Browncoat community so here I am!

Some Comicon-goers had promised to post

So neat that Joss noticed you before
you noticed him. (I'd have been tempted

Love the jacket. Quite literally shiny.
And where did you get the umbrella?

As a newcomer, have you ever been given

Been invited up to the galley? I've been

and they're on a bed of ice, waiting to
be sampled by you and anyone else who's
interested. Come on up the steps and mind
you don't get vertigo.

I will certainly do that! Thanks for the welcome and the Irish Whiskey. Considering I am half irish, the whiskey is the perfect thing to hit the spot!

Same here, which kinda explains why I give it out. That and Irish whiskey is fantastic.
