I'm planning on making an image of Simon, like I've done for Book and Simon&Kaylee, but I have no clue what quote to attribute to him. So my question: what is a realtively brief phrase, or even a short exhange, in which Simon said something...cool? The closer to 'Objects in Space' (I refuse to call it the last episode) the better, because than it carries a more current feel; but anything will do. When River says 'You gave up everything to find me, and found me broken' - that's pretty cool, except he doesn't actually say anything.

Any help would be appriciated.

I really like...

"Sadistic crap legitimized by florid prose? Tell me your not a fan..."

Simon says it to book when they're discussing River, the Alliance, and Shen Yu in War Stories.

Lemme try:

"You know, this must be what going mad feels like." (That look is priceless!)

Something like: "Mei-mei, all I need is right here."

I'll find some more sometime soon.

Ah, thanks for all the responses. I'd forgotten how many humorous lines this guy had.

I like the dinner party, or the one about dying standing..."Light it" is also good, with some photos to show the context. Probably just gonna use one quote for this, so I'll go with emotional over funny. And these three quotes all show how much he cares about River, which, so far in the show, is a very large part of his charactor.

I said "so far". You saw that, right? 'Cause this show'll come back. Beleive you me.

Heya,

A lot of my favorites are already posted, but here are a few more...

"I swear when it's appropriate. "

"Mmm, yes, seems like a lovely little
community of kidnappers."

"I'm very sorry if she tipped off
anyone about your cunningly concealed
herd of cows."

"If I didn't know better I'd say you
were ready to save some lives."

"I have to go check on my assassin. "

"Well, my sister's a ship. We had a
complicated childhood. "

To Jayne: "I'm trying to think of a way for you
to be cruder. It's just not coming. "

"You know, I've saved lives. Dozens. Maybe
hundreds. I reattached a girl's leg. Her
whole leg. She named her hamster after me.
I got a hamster. He drops a box of money,
he gets a town."

"So finally a decent wound on this ship,
and I miss out. I'm sorry."

"Great. Another exciting adventure in
sitting."

"The bounty on us just keeps getting
more exciting. "

Ah Teela ... we are still on the same frequency!

I love the monologue in 'Trash' as Jayne is strapped to the exam bed and 'neuralized'. You think it is going one direction, then it is revealed the depth of Simon's dedication and honor. He may have been a bit of a dandy, but it seems he has sure has gained (grudgingly, of course) Jayne's respect.

My darling fiancee just reminded me of this one and I'm quite ashamed to have forgotten it. It was hilarious. He was helping me reply to a post for my online computer course where someone had said something incredibly, incredibly wrong. He (being a Computer Science major) ranted about the idiocy of this person then looked straight at the monitor and said:

"Your patient should be dead."

The look, the tone of voice, the disgust with shoddy work, it is one of the greatest Simon lines (and scenes) ever.

For Simon to write that, he would have to be in two places at once, or his diary to have transported between places.

DONCOAT

Simon: "This isn't fear. It's anger."
Mal: "Well, kinda hard to tell one from t'other, face like yours."
Simon: "I imagine if it were fear, my eyes would be wider."

"Son - of - a - WHORE!"

The scene on the docks at Beaumonde between Simon and Kaylee is a gem -- that's more of a Kaylee highlight, really, but it ends with Simon asking River if she wants to stay. River answers, "It isn't safe." Simon responds, "No, I fear it isn't safe anymore." But he doesn't hear her continuation: "...for them." Okay, so that part is more of a River highlight... (*sigh*)

There's also the "never thought about anything but keeping River safe... my one regret is never being with you" monologue just before the reaver battle. Don't have the VC handy to look it up.

Not a Simon funny, but a good scene:
Simon: "We'll get off. When we get to Haven we'll get off and..."
Kaylee: "Nobody's saying that."
Wash: "Nobody but Jayne is saying that."

(From the show, I don't think it was mentioned above):
After River confesses to throwing up on *his* bed: "Yup. That's my sister."

I don't disagree on any particular point.

Slight misquote above; my favorite Simon quote might well be:

"Could you not do that while we're... *ever*?"

Agreed, though, that for sheer character development and inspiring respect, his speech to Jayne in Trash is the best. That's a truly superb monologue.

Incidentally, my little sister is a big Firefly fan as well, and we have tons of Simon/River moments. "Dear diary, Today I was pompous and my sister was crazy." Yep, that's pretty much us. Of course, we always go ahead and do the whole quote, which usually doesn't apply. But it's funny.
