Thanks guys for helping to boost the signal on this puppy. It's a blast working on it, and I've already been getting feedback from the far-flung Browncoat groups!

Also, Ray Hill over at the Big Damn Board put a link to it on his home page, until he can get a site calendar up and running his own self.

So, of course I get the French board...now I have to dust off part of my brain that has lain dormant for years and see if I still have a handle on that language...a challenge!

I steer people to the fireflyfans thread, so they can read a bit more about the calendar there, and know who FFF.net is, and also so I know the link to the calendar is stable.

Mavourneen, thank you for that. I find, however, that these things have a tendency to translate into formal French, and disregard slang, etc. I learned Parisian French when I lived there, and that is what my brain is wired for. My biological father's family hails from Quebec, and I picked some of that up, too...there are times when I come out sounding like a Belgian!

I have books at home that I can look at, but I will give the link a shot. Every little bit helps!

Tristan- sounds like you are indeed the homme for the job. You're right in that the bot can be rigid and not translate slang very well, so I tend to avoid slang and idioms. I keep the browser open so when someone IM's me in French, I copy, paste, translate, type my reply, translate, copy and paste back into IM very seamlessly.
Works for me.

And let me add that I point this out because the same error is in two postings I've seen, which may mean it is in more of them. As they are in different forums, which often display links a little differently, it's something to double check and fix asap.

(For instance, on the other forum I've seen this, only the top link is clickable, so it is more of an issue.)

I still haven't heard anything from the French after my post...I may have to go back in there and start chatting them up...

In perusing the threads, that board is not all that active. Before my post, the last one was two days before that...guess they aren't as active as we are

Is there an additional assignment I can take on? French is the only other language I know, so something in English would not be amiss!

That is what I've done a bit on the boards I posted to.

The Browncoat Board has been just dead... my post has had views, but no responses. Maybe our next form post will excite them more. But all the other boards I've posted to had a bit of a response and it gave me an opening to have a conversation. I like it... we get to know each other this way.

ETA: In reference to the "can I do more?" Message Penguin and see if there is a forum or two he can let you have.. perhaps someone has too many .. and they need the help?
