Thank you so much for sharing your treasured posession in all it's glory - I agree with Red haired Girl (I think it was her) who said that it felt like we'd actually seen it for ourselves!

BTW - you might be interested to know that as a trained and experienced actor I always write what I feel the character was going to say after a 'cut off line'. It is the only way you can naturally deliver a line that you know is going to be 'interrupted'. I am sure that this is what Adam was doing when he added to his line early on in the script. If an actor tries to speak a line with no intention of continuing past the point he/she expects to be interrupted then it never works - sounds stilted and almost as bad a sin as turning to answer a telephone that hasn't rung yet.... and believe me, I've seen them both happen!!!

We're all very glad you decided to share. It isn't often that people that don't win bidding are given the treat of enjoying the thing they lost. And to those of us without a dream of ever being able to afford something like that, it's especially sweet. It was a beautiful surprise and we're all glad you shared. I think that the jealousy you expected was not in evidence because you obviously were not gloating about winning the auction. (Not that we'd blame you for it, though!) I know more than half of us would be doing the "I've seen so much death" dance and the other half would be squeeing if it had been us. Lots and lots of squeeing.

I'd certainly take measures to preserve it. You spent an awful lot of money on it and taking precautions will keep your script safe and sound.

On a side note, it's been some time since I've been watching my DVDs and ran into a music video on Morri's MySpace done to the tune of "I need a Hero". Odd how the small things remind you of how truly excellent our show was.

The DVD captions are far from accurate in a lot of cases. Sometimes whole lines are completely wrong! It's actually funny sometimes if you know what the script actually says; you'd think whoever captioned it would've proofread or fact-checked, or whatever needed to be done a lot more thoroughly than they did.

I know this thread has not been used in a few months, but I would like to add my 4 cents.

Congrats Doncoat, thanks for sharing.

I worked in the motion picture industry for a few years and I thought I would share what I know about scripts and procedures.

A master shooting script is created from many draft revisions and this is the starting point for the production of the film or TV show. This is called the final shooting script or the final draft. They are always printed on one side with wide margins to leave room for notes. Location, scene descriptions and dialog are each formatted differently to make them stand out.

Once the original is printed, usually from a laser printer, it is copied on standard white 3 hole punched paper on an office copy machine. Each copy is bound with the hole fasteners and a copy is given to all the actors and to all the crew that need a copy to do their jobs. If there is sensitive information in the script, partial scripts may be printed, with the critical parts added in revisions later to those who need them, when they need them. (like Alan's BDM script ending at page 100)

Most people keep the script in the original binding, but some will put them in loose leaf binders for added protection.

Any revisions made during shooting after the distrubution of the original script are printed on different colored paper, and only those pages that are revised. Each revision is a different color, starting with green, blue, etc. (I don't remember the exact standard sequence, but there are 12 standard colors) When someone gets their colored revision pages they replace the page currently in the script with the colored one. White or colored pages are replaced with the revision pages. If a revision is longer than one page, the page number is appended with a letter to preserve the original page numbers. The second reason for using colored pages, it broadcasts to everyone in the production who sees someone else's script that a revsion has been made and they need to pick up their copy.

Script revisons are not made once shooting ends, while the show is being edited, though decisions may be made to drop scenes or even lines for time, flow or continuity needs.

In preserving a script, remember it is printed on ordanary office paper with a toner based ink from a copier. Your enemies are heat, as 100 degrees will cause the toner to soften and make the pages stick, sunlight, because of fading and making the paper brittle, and moisture, causing the paper to rot. If you truely want it to last, take it to an archivist who will treat the paper with an anti-acid bath then coat the paper to prevent its deteration. Though keeping it in a dark, cool and dry place will keep it intact for quite a few years.

Thanks for that info, Hera7. I'd pretty much deduced/assumed what the revision procedures were, but it's great to get an insider's knowledge.

I've thought about seeing an archivist and getting the paper "neutralized". Now I'll have to look into it further and find out about cost and such. Hey, if I find one who's a Browncoat, maybe I'll get a discount. (Or maybe I'll never get it back!)
