I've posted a couple of times, but thought I should introduce myself formally. A friend at work is a Browncoat (wore his Mal costume to work the night of the Serenity premiere), I thought it was neat that someone my age (30ish) was so into this thing, but I couldn't believe it was really *that* good. Well, I couldn't handle the curiosity any longer, so I got ahold of his loaner Firefly DVD set a couple of weeks ago. My wife and I are *hooked*. We finished watching the episodes just in time for the BDM to show on cable (amid groans between eps "I can't believe they cancelled this!"). We have purchased the Serenity RPG, Gamemaster screen, and the series and movie DVD's with Out in the Black slated for next paycheck. (In case anyone missed it - loaning Firefly to friends *works* :D)
I am extremely impressed with everything I've seen, including this group. I've been involved in sci-fi fandom before (sorry to say, part of the reason I was so jaded before my "conversion"), but this is something totally new, not in the same Verse. It has awakened my inner child like nothing ever has, so I hope you'll all excuse my gushing ramblings. There's a simple line in the Ballad that touched my heart the moment I heard it, so I'll close with it: "Take me out to the black"

In addition, I wanted to say that I enjoyed reading your story of conversion. Its quite similar to mine, and I love seeing people in my age bracket who are as in love with this 'Verse as I am.

Happy to see your inner di-di is awake . That Ballad kinda got to me, too . Back when the BDS was on-air , I had to listen to the lyrics and make a transcription...That's when I adopted my screen-name...
