Mal's Gun in Trash....

I just noticed this now, and it's annoying me.

So YoSaffBridge takes Mals gun away near the end of Trash, and then leaves him without clothes or weapons in the middle of the desert.

YoSaffBridge is then trapped in the dumpster by Inara, who then goes to meet Mal. They both board Serenity and fly away...

How does Mal get his gun back? Presumably Inara wouldn't lock YoSaffBridge in the dumpster, just to re-open it to retreive Mal's gun a second later and nothing passes between them.

Any ideas?

Inara returned in the shuttle that Saffron stole from Mal, and presumably (due to the lack of her having any of the items with her) left Mal's clothing and pistol in the shuttle.

I could be wrong, but that's what I always assumed.

isn't the gun inside the shuttle alon' with Mal's clothes? they leave her in the trash tank and take the shuttle back...
