Thank you Bad2 & Boomer for the most excellent postings from the Con. I know how hard it can be to take the time & I just wanted you both to know I am greatful.
Plus you are passing out a great deal of hope on seeing a BDS or BDM. Regardless of the outcome I'd rather be hoping then not.

Did you guys get to have your pics taken with them? I've only seen the one guy post pics. Figured he might have gotten lucky. But cool autographs! I was going to go but I am buying a house and my closing just so happened to land ontop of my plans to go to Dragon*Con.

Bad2Verse, do you really have an audio tape of Alan saying that there would be sequels? I would kill to get to hear that tape, mate. I have some trolls that have been on my case about just that thing.

Please let us know when you get a chance to post that audio clip.

BTW thanks for all of the info. It is much appreciated.

I have a couple of pictures that hubby took of me and the two of them. They're holding the mugs that we made for them, and we asked their permission to post them on our website, which they both graciously gave.

In addition, we talked to Erin Gray (Buck Rogers/Silver Spoons infamy), who nowadays is in the management business. She's going to help us get addresses for the other cast members to get their mugs to them (via manager, agent, etc.). How cool is that? She was extraordinarily nice.

We're still in Atlanta. After last year, we decided to stay until Tuesday to avoid the check-out crush. When we get home, I'll post a link to the pics on our site, as I can't figure out how to put them here. LOL.

I've dealt with a LOT of actors over the years, and most of them are "Nice", as long as they are "Smoozing the public"... but the cast (and crew) from FF/Serenity are GENUINELY good people.. they don't have to fake it, I've never met a "Whole Cast" that was as "genuinely friendly" as this cast is... they WANT to help.

THAT is the truth, the Highways were a total Crush.. traffic was moving along OK on 85 North and South, and 20 West (Dunno about the other routes), but there were a LOT of people sitting on the side of the road, with Police keeping traffic moving very well (Considering) and keeping the "Looky loo's" and "Rubber neckers" moving along.

Be glad you waited, While traffic was moving pretty smooth, it was still a CRUSH of Bumper to bumper vehicles, and scary at times!

bad2verse (from upthread a way):
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~snip~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And what's with all the "little school girl with their underwear
showing" costumes? Anime or something, but it seems popular (For
the ones wearing that much clothing ;)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've seen photos of Japanese girls on the street
dressed this way. It's a subculture-y fashion
thing like Goth can be if you just go for the
look. Or like punk used to be, ditto, I suppose.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~another snip~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It has a HUGE female audience, and it's growing BIGGER by the
month, and That's EXACTLY what Hammer of Sci-fi wants to see! I
"Assume" someone has put a copy of "Done the impossible" in her
hands... if they haven't, it needs to be done, cause there are
LOTS of females in it (Prolly more females than males).. seems
someone else did their homework on Hammer also.. GOOD JOB!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You refer to the SereniFly audience? And where
do the figures come from -- someone said this
at Con or what? And female? Hunh! Well, we
spend money, too. Even buy oil and tires and
such (ssh! dirty little female secret!) but maybe
not so much the cheap beer...
So much for the original target demo.

Summer is so gorgeous. Great photos. Thanks

BROWNCOATRISING

Okay, so it turns out this is actually my first time posting on this board even though I've been registered for several months. I just got back from the Con and it was amazing. There were Browncoats EVERYWHERE (if I met any of you there, I was the one with the nametag that said "Buffy" with "yes, this is my real name" because well, it is my real name). This was my first con and I was very impressed with both Alan and Summer. Alan is just hysterically funny, and Summer was funny, too. I was in the con suite when Alan dropped by and read Wash's eulogy. That was just an incredibly nice thing to do for his fans. In the autograph lines (which were insanely long for Alan and Summer--much longer than any other actor's), even after three days of signing, Alan was just as funny and gracious as he was on day one. Overall, I had a fantastic time, and am even more impressed with this fandom.

The panel with them on Sunday was hysterical, as the winner of the eulogy contest asked Alan to sign her copy (he'd read it the night before). Well, those of us who hadn't heard it badgered him into reading it, which he did.........while "editing" it! Yes, he actually wrote notes on it, like adding the line "sexy, sexy, sexy" and such. It was hysterical, and that lady now has an awesome souvenir of D*C.

Now, if I could just meet Cap'n Tightpants, my life would be complete.

I'd sure like to hear that tape, because that it is not what Alan said. Alan said that if there *were* more movies, both Wash and Book would be there. Then there was speculation on how, prequel or what, someone suggested evil twin and so forth. He never and I repeat never said that there would be more movies definitely. Only that if there were, both Book and Wash would be in them. Alan was very low key and hesitant to say there was no news. Sorry to be the burster of bubbles, but that is not what was said.

Yes, he didn't give anything truly positive, and did stress that Joss is working on Wonder Woman for the forseeable future. He did, however, say that they haven't been given a definite "no" to another movie. I would be far more disillusioned if he'd said that the studio had said "absolutely no more".

Everyone thought the 'Verse was dead after the cancellation, and look where we are today.

Tristan,

Saw you in the Hyatt's lobby, prepping for the Browncoat parade. I wanted to say hello, just to meet ya and to open discussions for the making of a swell deerskin browncoat to fit my skinny frame. Thought I'd save that for later, to let you have some space that morning. Since then, I heard via the grapevine that a family event cut short your D*C goodness, and I sincerely hope all is well on that score. Sorry I let an opportunity lapse. Still, let me know if you have any desire to produce any more Mal-coat goodness: I feel your work is first rate, and I would be honoured to commission a coat, at your convenience.

Jaynehats: Serenity (CMS) rocks! She sold out her entire inventory at D*C, and has outstanding orders for more! To wit, just 3 of the shiny examples at one of the Tudyk/Glau panels:

Note: there was an entire row of browncoats wearing the hats (toques, peeps, c'mon!), and I do recall that the start of the panel was somewhat delayed by the numbers of digicam bearing audience members taking pix of us who, in our row, were wearing the shiny accoutrements.

I was the one who got to give them the shirts and goodies from the SEBC on Sunday. We've given to the other stars in previous years. Our whole group was so brain dead from the Shindig the night before that none of us took pictures even after I looked at my camera while getting the stuff out of my bag! I am desperate to find any pics of that, or a video, as I saw several cameras going during the panel.

The Shindig had just as big a turn out as last year, if not bigger and we knew it would be HUGE. Daragon*con on the other hand didn't seem to get the hint after the lines last year and gave us a room for only about 100 people more than last time. The Southeastern Browncoats were contacted two weeks before the con and we were given the final ok about 9 days before the party was to happen. I think we did really well considering our lack of budget and time ^_^ It was a blast even with the technical difficulties. And we love that Dragon*Con gave us the opportunity!

We hope to at least split up the costume contest and party if they offer to let us have a shindig again next year.

Oh and on the costume contest front, a person in a serenity costume won it! It was awesome. Had blinking lights and was truly a great costume. The second place winner was a woman in a such kick-ass river costume, and the third place winner was a girl in a white dress. I don't know who that was supposed to be but the dress was beautiful. There were so many shiny entries in the costume contest and I'm so glad I got to be a part of it...now i need to find a pic of me eating the strawberry *grins* I was the only kaylee who did that and i think i did quite a shiny job. Even though I didn't win anything, I still had tons of fun.

I wish you had been in the contest tristan. Your browncoat costume was awesome, especially since you made your own boots, suspenders, and coat! I think you could have won.

Thanks so much! We were actually sitting in the way back with a few other SEBC people. I had a question I wanted to ask after I gave the shirts to Allan and Summer, but they said no that was my question. I was shaking so much after talking to them in front of so many people that my husband offered to ask my question for me and so he was in the question line down the middle aisle when he shouted that. He was the one who asked if they had taken anything from the sets. Sadly they weren't as sneaky as Jewel Nathan and Adam who told us all about the stuff they took.

Well Bad, I'm certainly not going to say you're wrong. Alan's phrasing was a bit curious. And we all want and hope for our Big Damn Trilogy. But it seems to me that you are stretching the evidence almost to the breaking point. There's a lot of 'if' coming off that chain of logic.

I hope I'm wrong, and you are right. If so, just remind me and I'll change my tagline to add "SEE? Bad2verse was right!!" for the following six months. But I'm going to wait for something a bit more solid to hang my hopes on.

BTW wasn't that panel GREAT!?!?! The ballroom was packed, Alan and Summer were fantastic. She actually started getting a little misty-eyed talking about how much she loves Sean. And "sexy, sexy sexy" Alan... I had to step away from my camera a few paces so it wouldn't pick up my laughing!

Heh yeah, me being a moron I was saying "No S.E.B.C." as he started saying it. I was so nervous. We didn't hear the end of it for the rest of the con. But it got us noticed!

Thanks for checking your videos for me, maybe someone else out there has something. Let me know how would be best to transfer the file.

CALLMESERENITY

Don't forget "seeb-kah!". I can never say SEBC again without thinking seeb-kah!

And, of course, every time I think of Alan, I'll think "sexy, sexy, sexy". Of course, I thought that already.....

This year was, IMHO, way better than last year. And that's saying a lot because I had an amazing time last year!

DARKJESTER

Heather, I have that whole panel on video, including "Evil twin", and all the "Seebkuh" comments! I'm an amature, but was using a tripod and was against the left wall (facing the stage) by the exit doors closest to the stage, right behind the announcer's platform. It SHOULD turn out pretty well. Give me till this weekend, and I should have something I can send you, if you like. I have some video from the shindig, too, but not the costume contest. I was at The Signal's podcast recording session.

PS - THANK YOU!!!!! for all your hard work, and the rest of the Seebkuhs!

I hope I'm wrong, and you are right. If so, just remind me and I'll change my tagline to add "SEE? Bad2verse was right!!" for the following six months. But I'm going to wait for something a bit more solid to hang my hopes on.

If you know the "Whole Picture", all the little things added up (And some things that have yet to be mentioned), it was the last piece that "Proved" to *me* that another film is going to come our way...

As people get tired and wear down they let more come out "By Accident"... I've been doing this sort of thing professionally for better than 25 years... and starting the convention fresh it was "I haven't heard anything".. to the point of pretending he didn't even know ANYTHING about a potential future.. then later in the weekend as he got tired, the story changed...

"When the story keeps changing, something there"

Again, we went from "I don't know anything about it" to "I've been told IF there is another movie, Wash and Book will be in it".. HUGE jump between the two, and added to the NDA statement (Why have an NDA when there's nothing to discuss? I ran NDA's by our Lawyer and She said they were usually for "Specific projects" and not "Far reaching" (As in saying, "You can't EVER say anything about these three movies until AFTER they are ALL done")... she said an NDA is usually "per project" (Movie, TV series, season, etc)).. So having an NDA says there's "Something" to be NOT discussed... and the guy doing the novelizations said he had an NDA also.

That's a whole lotta NDA's for something that's not happening ;)

But I think we're gonna see more coming out pretty soon, call it an "Informed opinion".

If I can cut the Sound out of the Video I took where he pretends not to know ANYTHING in the first panels, I'll post it also.. if you heard both clips side by side (or one after the other), You'd see EXACTLY what I mean.

PLUTOMOMENT

DarkJester you are my new favorite person if you have me giving those shirts. And Shindig video footage would be good too! We got photos of each person in the contest which was the important part so not having video is ok. I'm so glad everyone enjoyed the shindig. We were all really stressed out about pulling it off!

To play Devil's Advocate... uh, no, not at all a jump between the two, because I'm pretty sure Alan was saying this exact same thing as soon as the movie came out - that Joss promised him that if there was another movie, Wash and Book would be in it some how.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love for your analysis to be correct and there to be another movie on the way, I just can't get my hopes up.

Hey, I think I met you. Did you go to the Hugh Laurie panel on the last day? If so, I was sitting beside you and you showed me that picture. If not, then someone else took a picture in which it looked like she was sitting in Summer's lap.

In the "I Met Morena and C..." thread. Some posters are saying... Morena said, During her intimate and interactive, she didn't think a sequel would be made because of poor box totals. And she is close to Joss (accepting the Hugo).

At the START of Dragon*Con... oh forget it.. Believe what you want. We've done MONTHS of research on this whole thing for an investment company before we found FFF.net, We know what we know, and I'm not defending it any further Here. When the next Movie is announced, just remember this thread.

Hey, Elizabeth (EngineAngel!) So, I was completely wrong about screenname on here. I do use "hobanw" on a couple of boards, but not this one, I guess.

Hey, here's hoping. I'm just trying to help you refine your arguments, because going from 'I haven't heard anything' to 'I've been told that if there is a movie, Book and Wash will be in it' is not an advancement in their position. It's merely a different way of stating already known information. It's no different than if _I_ said both that we don't know anything yet, and then later said that Tudyk has said that if there was a next movie, he would be in it. It doesn't mean I've come into more information, or that I'm slipping up and releasing information that I'd previously been tight-lipped about, it's merely me saying things that have already been said.

So if you use _that_ to advance your argument that there's something brewing, you're doing yourself a disservice, because it means nothing, and so convinces others you're talking to that you're making a lot out of nothing. The NDA argument is much stronger, so you should stick with that.
