Two questions:

1. I thought there was round 2 of Serenity Day on September 30th with more charity screenings. www.cantstoptheserenity.com doesn't mention that though... Did Serenity Day Part II get canceled? If not, where can I go to find a local screening and get tickets?

2. I just moved to Washington DC for three months and want to get in touch with the Browncoat community here, can some one hook me up?

Thanks a bunch,
Amy

As I remember, any September Charity screenings were not part of www.cantstoptheserenity.com idea. That was Serenity Charity Screenings around June 23 (Joss Whedon's Birthday) for Joss's fav charity Equality Now. Fans arranged those screenings.

Fans can arrange Charity Screenings anytime of the year for any charity they want. There are actually three charity screenings that I have found:

Tempe, AZ -----------------------------------------------
September 19, 2006 Serenity Charity Screening for Equality Now!
http://www.arizonabrowncoats.com

Cleveland, OH-----------------------------------------------

Serenity Charity Screening for Equality Now!

October 1, 2006
Cleveland, OH.
http://films.cwru.edu/schedule.html

Bloomington IN -----------------------------------------------
Serenity Charity Screening
The proceeds will benefit MiddleWay House,
a Shelter and Center for Abused Women and children.

http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=2&t=23547
Midnight Serenity Screening, 9/29 Bloomington IN!

The non-charity screenings of Serenity that I have come across are for Sept. and Oct. 2006 are:

Oakland, CA Parkway Speakeasy Theater
Minneapolis, MN Uptown Theatre
Jericho, NY Library
Dayton, OH Library
Philadelphia, PA Bryn Mawr Theater

There may be more. These are just ones I have come across. Here are two Serenity screenings searches:

http://imdb.com/title/tt0379786/cinemashowtimes?location=map
http://www.mrmovietimes.com/movies/Serenity.html?zip=97214&distance=10
000+miles&limit=No+limit

I hoping more will pop up each day.

Bascially, if you have about 25 Browncoats a theater might want to screen Serenity for you. The theater just needs to KNOW that they will make a profit on the screenings. That is why Beer and Pizza theaters love Browncoats...refreshments are where most of a theater's profits come from.

Here is the webpage of the Arlington VA Drafthouse theater that has screened Serenity for Browncoats. http://www.arlingtondrafthouse.com/default.aspx?page=home

A Browncoat in Oakland, CA got a September Anniversary Screening just by emailing a theater.

Check with your local theaters, you may just find a Browncoat Manager or Owner just wanting to screen Serenity and not sure if anyone would show up. Non-busy days or times are a good idea or midnight shows.

from http://www.bigdamnboard.com/websites/groups/

Mid-Atlantic Browncoats - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Midatlanticbrowncoats/
Anyone from central PA to central VA, Delaware to West Virginia is welcome; events and shindigs will be concentrated in the Baltimore/Washington DC areas.

There are 292 members. A theater would be thrilled if 292 people showed up to see a movie.

You are welcome!

Heh, you spelled my name wrong. It is anonymous1--two Ns and a 1.

I can't take all the credit. I am pooling information from other Browncoats and other sources.

yeah - we're hosting screenings and shindigs on the 29th and 30th at Midnight - the only charity is Serenity herself - driving up the BO in tiny, tiny increments, but that's cause enough for us...

the PA showing might be the closest for you - about 2.5 hours from DC...

http://www.brynmawrfilm.org for info and directions.

I already know a few folks, led by Malnourished, are coming up from MD.
