There is a program for Windows out there called Orbiter, which is a spaceflight simulator with a steepish learning curve, but fairly simple if you just want to mess around.

In any case, there is a massive add-on community for this program, people that make ships and planets and stations and things. There is a very popular add-on archive site called Orbit Hangar. On this site is the JUMBO Firefly with a plethora of working features including two fully functional shuttles, Serenity hovermule, cargo, landing gear, rotating engine pods, cargo bay with door, virtual cockpit and two kinds of Firefly drive to choose from. There are also other add-ons for this add-on, including scenario packs and a fix for the cargo door (which is a bit odd to use at first).

This is the add-on which originally got me interested in the show, and I recommend both it and Orbiter to anyone interested.

Thanks for posting this! Last time I used Orbiter was several years ago. Looks like a lot has happened since then, including being able to fly a Firefly. W00T!
