I hate to be the bringer of bad news but Adam has pulled out of his appearance in Milton Keynes due to work commitments. I only got my tickets for the photo op last saturday so i am really quite pissed. Well all we can hope is that he comes next year.

Getting a bit twitched by this. What with this, and some interview comments - is our BDH backing away from Firefly/Serenity?

Don't get all down about it. He's a working person who still has to pay the rent no matter how much he enjoys Jayne. One season's wages is not usually enough to retire on.
I'm sure he's feeling at least a little guilty for disappointing the fans.

That's the vibe I've always got from him - just a working actor, rather than a 'star'. No, my worry would be someone so essential to the ensemble deciding that they didn't want to come back into the fold if something were to occur. However, I also read something about a three-picture contract, so we can hope...

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

It seems like this is the second or third time I've heard about Adam pulling out of making an appearance in less than a year! Bit disappointing in many ways.

interestingly enough.. you don't hear about the others pulling out.. now it could be that Adam leaving is a bigger disappointment, or it could be that the others do not commit to things they cannot make. I cannot imagine that any actor doesn't know his work schedule weeks in advance... if they are filming...

No one faults an actor for taking work... but I think we are seeing a pattern here for Mr. Baldwin, that he is often unable to attend these get togethers. I can imagine that is is very disappointing to those who have tickets... and I think it will make ppl leery of buying in the future, lest he be unavailable again...

just my opinion and not in any way shape or form related to the thoughts of a sane individual or this forum

Pleased he has work but sad I can't meet him. Let's hope he can make it another time....

(I knew I should have gone to London to see him last year *sigh*)

I think he's the sort of utility actor that can get called into roles at short notice. As fun as conventions are for us, they're not the day job for actors and I suspect nearly every actor would rather get a reputation with fans for pulling out of appearances than a reputation with directors and agents for pulling out of roles.

I got to meet him at the Edinburgh signing and he was happily talking to fans there. I also think he's one of the biggest hearted BDH's but he definitely keeps his light under a bushel. Things like wearing one of Lux's t-shirt designs to the premiere... I swear he's this big damn softie in real life.

When he had to pull out of D*C the organisers seemed as surprised as anyone - apparently he absolutely loves D*C and conventions and was really very sorry that he had to miss it - Alan Tudyk confirmed this himself i think in one of the panels - that and the fact that they'd all been signed up for two more movies should they get financing - and there was no indication that any of them were regretting that.

But Adam is INCREDIBLY busy at the moment - he's in several shows, and I vaguely remember reading about a pilot or/and a show thats got a season already - he's a busy bunny! And he doesn't yet command the sorts of fees that let him throw whole projects out to suit himself.
And tv is and incredibly intensive industry - scheduling filming to suit one actor does not happen.

So we loose out. poo!

It wasn't a Serenity convention, for information - they have about 40 or so guests from all sorts of shows and movies.

Adam has pulled out as he's a regular in a show called Daybreak on TNT, which is shooting at the moment.

Craven1979,
Sorry to hear the bad news. I know I would be disappointed too if I had tickets.

What I've read about Adam makes me believe that he is at work hoping that his fans understand that he wouldn't cancel unless there was no other way.

It is disappointing but I for one am glad that he has work - Hollywood is not an easy place and I'd like to see more Adam!
