Just noticed this story today , if THIS can happen , certainly there is room in the 'Verse for more stories about our beloved B.D.Heroes !

Mel Brooks to turn 1987 sci-fi spoof 'Spaceballs' into an animated TV series

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Mel Brooks, whose comedy hits include "The Producers" and "Blazing Saddles," is bringing his sci-fi spoof "Spaceballs" to television in cartoon form.

"Spaceballs: The Animated Series" will air on the G4 television network beginning next fall.

The 1987 film, which starred Brooks, Rick Moranis and John Candy, parodied "Star Wars" and other sci-fi movies. The new animated version will poke fun at blockbuster movies, reality TV, politics and pop culture.

Brooks, 80, will write the pilot episode and voice two of the show's characters.

"Spaceballs: The Animated Series" is the result of a partnership among the G4 network, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Brooksfilms Ltd. and Berliner Film Companie GmbH.

Well , to reiterate , the short answer is :

To explain it at somewhat greater length , our Firefly / Serenity 'Verse content is of a quality that is obviously superior to 'Spaceballs' . If an old , crusty , comical sci-fi spoof like 'Spaceballs' can get picked up and remade as an animated series for a cable channel , then surely there is a place in the 'Verse for more new Firefly / Serenity material , in some fashion . Preferably an exciting Browncoat-y fashion , live action , with the original cast .

But at this point , I'd be happy with the animated fashion , with voice-overs by our beloved heroes , or a podcast with the same , or shadow puppets , or what have you...

While your point is taken, let us also remember how awesome and incredibly Jewish Spaceballs was. I came home from Ft. Benning for Christmas Exodus the year before last, and this was the first movie I had seen in over a year. Even though I'd seen it many times before, the "Alien" spoof scene at the end made me fall off of the couch because of how hard I was laughing.

Remembered . Meant no disrespect toward Spaceballs , hopefully none was taken .
