Hello fellow browncoats,

First let me say that I can not begin to understand what the “J” man is talking about. I think he talks in riddles because he knows his words will be broken down and micro examined to find their meaning. I don’t know. I do get a positive feeling from the above post by FollowMal. Sounds to me that Joss already has a notebook with several continuing stories of the FF/verse ready to go. That is exciting news if I’m reading it right. I think he must feel down at times but he can always come here and see that we are still with him in this. JOSS DON’T EVER STOP. The FF verse is something that needs to be told. This show is ALIVE. It is ready to come back and make someone a lot of $$$.

Isn’t it strange how hearing a word can make you happy, sad or even angry. For a long while hearing the word FOX didn’t mean anything to me except what was being discussed at the time. Now when I hear the word “FOX” I automatically curse look down and spit. FOX curse your evil hides.

Z

Awww, Xie Xie FMF, I try, I really do try.
'Course it's a little easier when Joss the Boss says stuff like the above. To know that having to wait to tell the story is so heart breaking for him and so like our heartbreak at having to wait to hear the story means a great deal.

Our opportunity is still there... in his mind, in there with all the other stories ... we just have to have enough people and enough money to get a studio interested in giving us more.

We just have to fight harder.

Same place the love for Wedge Antilles (from Star Wars) and Haji (from InuYasha) come from; they're "everyman." Clem's a typical guy (who happens to be a demon): no superpowers, no ambitions to destroy the world, he just wants to go about his life. People identify with that. He's no Hero or Villain, he's just a guy. He's more normal than Xander.

As much as we'd like to meet Spike or Buffy, we'd like to hang out with Clem.

Nailhead, meet hammer

That is the best explanation I've heard about why minor characters have so many fans.

How many Jaynes does it take to change a light bulb?

Two. One to try to put it in and another to find a bigger hammer.

New series, maybe?

Or maybe a Supernatural/Buffy cross-over storyline? Nah, won't work.

TWILIGHT

Noted today in the news that Fox has launched a "faith films" division. Perhaps FF cancelation was more connected to politics and ideological belif sysems etc. than ratings. We expect consistancy of policy and a level of understanding (of content) in a public medium. Fox, basically, is the "House that MASH Built!" That was one fine allegory to the war at the time and war in general. Given the storylines of FF it shure was a fine allegory for today. Those years ago Fox stayed the course for, at least, 3 - 4 seasons for MASH to find an audiance. Even the tie-in with the hit movie did not really help with night and time changes, sports season pre-emptions, etc. Eventually it hit a long stride of near historic T.V goodness that ended (some say appropriately) with the biggest (most water used at one time) flush in history (probably! Well, those idealists are not there any longer, I guess. The new "suits" appear conservative and all about status quo and promoting "their" values. Having served in that other war (Vietnam) I really identified with our BDH regardless of which side of their issues they were on. The voice that J.W. gave these folks just resonated so genuine and true that he must have some experiance with the disillusion of combat service and it's effect on individuals and society. By and large most Vietnam combat vets did not become big "joiners" waving the flag, spouting "My Country, right or wrong" and "stay the course" as we loose another genertion to futility. Just like Mal as we work on finding our balance in these times we sometimes are more this way and sometimes more that way (politically). But, we usally are more reflective and try very hard to examine many issues from all sides and make informed decisions that are right for us (even though we don't allways agree with the powers that be). Having a generation of returning Vets from these current conflicts will do much the same to them as it did to mine. It will make them more weary and warrey (just like the JW's dissillusionment with Fox)and less likely to any established value that does not work for us. I feel the establishment would not find this predictable and supportive to their goals. Odd how the politics of war tends to breed anti-war in a democratic society! Those in power tend to want to stay in power and supporting attitudes of self-refection, ideologicl tolerence and investigation, does not make for good Unification robots marching off to their status quo future, and unquestioning demise, like Lemings on a dead run to doom! So, quick, cancel shows that question issues, forward ideas, show the value, and difficulty, of being human, trying to (find) love, survive and get by on the unpopular side of an issue, or, just get by. As long as Fox found the ideas pallatable on paper (Slaying demons etc.) they were ok. Sitting down and watching FF might have been like going to the wrong political rally! Just something they could not (in their good conscience) promote and wanted gone as fast as possible. As the fan base grows it will come back to bite them. I could not understand why they would not sell the rights to the property before. It looks now like it is most likely censorship by supression. The more people they send to their war the more Browncoats they will make and the sooner their power base will collapse.
