Just lifted this from Whedonesque....

Nothing certain, no rumour, just a little bit of hope. Hold that line!

Serenity sequel on the cards
17th October 2006, 11:59 WST

Fans of American sci-fi TV series Firefly and spin-off flick Serenity will be happy to know another movie could be on the horizon.

Texan-born actor Summer Glau, who played River in the series and the film, said director Joss Whedon would like to make another film based on the crew of the Serenity spaceship.

"There is still a chance," said Glau from Los Angeles.

"Joss is busy with other things right now, but we have the option of making more and all of us are under contract to do that.

"We are all going along, doing other jobs, but always hoping that we will be united again."

The film was released last year and also starred Chiwetel Ejiofor, Nathan Fillion and Gina Torres.

The story, set 500 years in the future, follows the crew of transport spaceship Serenity, who embark on a battle against a mighty empire.

Glau arrives in Australia later this week for the Supanova Pop Culture Expo, kicking off at Sydney's Olympic Park on October 27 and running for three days.

Other actors slated to appear at the convention include Kevin Weisman from Alias, Mira Furlan of Lost, and Clare Kramer from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Voice actors from series such as Yu-Gi-Oh, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will also attend.

For Glau, conventions are more than just signing autographs and meeting fans, they're an opportunity to see the world.

"I am trying to get anywhere where people invite me," said the 25-year-old, who attended a convention in Brisbane earlier this year.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Summer is so great. Glad to see she is still holding the faith.

Now we browncoats have to work all the harder to push the Serenity dvds so we get that sequel.

I would urge caution - on Whedonesque the comments run along the lines of 'she is clearly keen and willing to be in a sequel, but probably doesn't understand what is required from the studio to make this happen', there are lots of comments about 'havng a contractual obligation IF there is a sequel is a long way from there being one'.

That said, the fact that she is still keen, clearly loves the fandom, and hasn't written it off can be seen as a positive - much like Joss' post last week - there may be nothing happening today, but we don't know what may be around the corner... all it takes is one phone call.... Joss to press that big red button.... and we can all come running!

Sometimes you just have to feel sorry for authors like this. Cause coming up with a one sentence synopsis of Serenity is fairly impossible. Which usually means something way off the mark like this one.

As always everything we do and hope for is done with caution. But this is sweet nonetheless.
As Browncoat1 says... all the more reason to get busy and come up with some plans to put the 'Verse and these actors on Universal's and Joss' front burner.

We need another DVD drive. As hard as that sounds to do, it's the only way to speak to the folks at Universal. Money talks, always has, always will. One for the holidays sounds good to me, since I'll be buying copies of Serenity as gifts anyway. We may as well coincide doing it- together makes more sense.

Thank you,Z... I know it's hard to save and it's hard to think about doing it again... and I'm beginning to think we ought not to do it many more times than twice a year... but now seems like such a pivotal time. They need to see we're still out here and still interested in the sequel.
We can't give up the line now...usually when the battle's hardest is when the tide can be turned.

Kind of like how my wife was shocked to learn Gwyneth Paltrow's from California.
