NECROSCAPE

It would be fair to say that I am still in the juvenile stages of being a Browncoat. My girlfriend introduced me to the show, which I watched with much skeptisism, a few months ago. But I fell hard for it. I just bought the series and the movie on dvd and am in such a Firefly frenzy. But recently I sat back and realized exactly what it meant to be a Browncoat.
I would describe us Browncoats to be very similar to Reavers. You see, the original run of the series is alot like the Pax. The majority of the population, as shown by the ratings sadly, just laid down and died, but a small mass of people became passionate and feverous about this show. But since then there has been a huge grow in the Browncoat population. Well how? Browncoats are born from other Browncoats. I was created, as I'm sure many of you were, by the effects of witnessing and being in the presence of other Browncoats.
So through that I became a Browncoat, and I must say, I don't think I've ever been so proud. Because if you stand back and really look at this group, we're so much more than a fanbase. And I don't mean that we transcend fans and slide right into fanatics. We have become something that the world lacks. We're confident, virtuous, passionate, and fight for things we think are right(like a Firefly movie) and though we all may be rough around the edges and a little grounded, we still believe we can soar. We have become the very heroes that we idolize and I can't think of better roles to try and fill. It's not worth it to be perfect, but to do what's right. And maybe this is glorifying it a bit but you can't stop the signal, and you can't take the sky from us and if nothing else, that sure is something. And I think with that we can all rest easy knowing we each have found our own peace of serenity, or piece of Serenity.
And though this sounds very much like an editorial(maybe I'll get it published), this is really more of a calling. A calling to all Browncoats to stay in the black and though we may not be able to change things we'd like to change, we do fight for the things that matter, win or lose. And so I don't feel like this went unread, it'd be might friendly to give a shout, especially if it's just for your own Browncoat pride. When they took my black seude jacket at the door I didn't think I'd leave with a brown coat but I'll keep moving because there's no place I can be...

Howdy! Welcome!
It is great to meet a new Browncoat, and I hope you have found the comics and the River Tam video sessions and all the other goodies that have kept the fandom lively....

I couldn't have put it better my own self. The Browncoats I have met in my travels thru this fandom have been some of the the most warm, generous, caring, and selfless people I have ever met. I feel proud to have been a Browncoat from the very first airing of "The Train Job".

But you wanna hear the best part? The beauty of this fandom is that whether you watched from the beginning, or you picked up Serenity or the dvds yesterday - we are all BROWNCOATS and that makes us mighty. There is no pecking order, no hierarchy, and no ownership of "true fandom"...we are all just good people who share a passion for something truly phenomenal.

So welcome to the fold, NECROSCAPE...May your jobs all be milk runs, your gifts from Buddha always be plastic rockets and ponies, and your Mudders Milk always flow like wine. You've earned it.

Your post has been read and appreciated. We are a friendly group. If you ever need anything, just get on the Cortex and send us a wave. There is always someone around.

MiraculusBumm has a great idea, but so we don't feel too silly maybe we should do a wave. Let's start with the US going to the east around the world. Let's wave our hands up for Necroscape.

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome to the site and to the ranks of the browncoats Necroscape! We're glad to have you aboard. Make yourself at home, because that is exactly where you are.

That were some mighty fine words and I think I can safely say you wrapped up exactly how all of the browncoats feel. This show transcends mere entertainment. Joss communicated the basic principles of freedom, loyalty and family to us with his tale of the 'verse and it touched us deeply. So, we been out here sailing in the black, holding the line and converting new people as we can.

I am glad that you listened to your girlfriend and gave the show a chance. Now perhaps you can share that same message with others you know who have not been introduced to it yet. We could sure use more fans & the more dvds that sell the better our odds of the story being continued.

Take care & keep flyin'!

Welcome aboard Necroscape! Very eloquently put!

There's another thing you'll find, or at least I found, is that the people that make up the Browncoats, and frequent this site, have to be the most diverse, intelligent group I have ever witnessed.

Normally that would be cause for strife, but here it's embraced.

You'll fit right in.

Welcome home, Necroscape (#23252)
It's right shiny to have you aboard.
Better late than never, like so many of us.

Please accept this dish of strawberries
and our invitation to come up to the galley
to question the buffet. There is more or
less constant cooking, baking, and other
prep going on, as there are now too many of
us to sit around the table.

Ice-planets are in the cooler, bottom shelf.

Please try not to step on ShipsCat or into
her dish.

Share the Browncoat love. It's better than
eatin' people.

And a batch of berries, and the drinkables
and all the other whatnot (to be found in the

A fact of Browncoatiness is that one often
thinks one is the only 'Coat around until
something happens which elicits mass confessions
and crawlings-from-woodwork.

Say "shiny" and see what happens.

Wear a Firefly T-shirt and you may be surprised.
If you don't flush out a hidden 'Coat or two you
may be given the opportunity to spread the
Firefly love to those who've hungered for it
all their lives without knowing what it was.

Ok, so I'm moved. And I needed to say that because I'm about to disagree with you and I wanted you to know first off and foremost that I am very much moved by what I just quoted and my disagreement is secondary and as nothing in comparison.

So here's where I disagree, it is true that the signal can't be stopped, but they can take the sky from us, they did take the sky from us. It was only becasue of the passion of fans and makers alike that we got it back, and even then only for two hours.

To me that's the important part, we don't give up. Any sane person would have long ago thrown in the towel, any sane person would have given up before the movie was a go. We've moved beyond sanity onto love, passion if you like.
