AYRAD

My merciful Buddha!

I was reading posts at the Firefly forum on the IMDB and I came across this link:

http://killjayne.com/

Isn't the cyberworld crowded by nuts???

Guy's name is Johnatan Quince.
Hope for him he'll never cross my path.

In addition to being plain crazy this guy is also a vile coward:

"I no longer use e-mail as a form of personal communication. However, if you want to snail-mail me, my postal address is readily available".

Hell yes! nice trick to avoid flooding of agry REAL Browncoats' responses to his highly insulting work of hate.

I'm speechless. And I'm not saying this just because I dearly love Jayne.

i have to say that this guy has a point about it being strange that Simon doesn't kill Jayne for selling him and his sister to the authorities, or that the captain doesn't repay Jayne with the usual punishment for treason, death.
one might say that this is bad writing, or that maybe the characters of Simon, River and the captain are just forgiving to people who they regard as something similar to a family. however, i don't see a reason to get so worked up about it and start a hatepage on the internet. this person is entitled to his opinion, but why bother with putting in all the effort to get a domain name and build a page for something you really hate. very weird person.

While Jayne isn't my favourite character, he is a unique part to the show. I'm sure he would eventually die. Guy has some points though.

THE 'Message to Jayne fans' made me laugh SO HARD.

I think Jayne didn't fully realize what the Blue Hands would do to River once they took her. I think that Mal knows this, and cuts him a break. If the series had gone on longer, Jayne would have done something to make up for it.

Other than buying apples.

On the topic of Jayne - I love him: along with Kaylee, my fave character. The discrepency between his opinion of himself and the reality is one of FF's greatest joys, IMHO. He is full of the inconsistences of a real person eg deciding to join the assault on Niska's spacestation even though it goes against everything he stands for. As for selling the Tams down the (ahem) river, that's one of those classic chicken/egg things. Would he have done it if River hadn't sliced him open? Would she have done it if she ahdn't forseen his treachery?

As for hate sites, if they're done with humour, they can be ok. For example, search for Manchester United hate sites - some of those are downright funny. And hating Manure is an honourable passtime. The killjayne site is just a bore.

So if I like Jayne, then I am akin to a rapist...that is the most disgusting diatribe i've read all day. Obviously he doesn't know anyone who has been raped...

I read the uhm.... article?

I laughed.

But then again....apparently I'm "mentally unstable" and a "bad person".

Shame on my.

I will now go and lie in the foetal position in the shower, while slowly rocking myself from side to side, all the while keening softly.

Actually, this guy reminds me of half the people on this site.

And what's with getting down on Iago? The way I remember reading "Othello", he repented towards the end.

Also, this is not the first time I've heard the "If you like this fictional character, you're evil" arguement. There's this anime called grappler Baki, where the main villain is called Hanma Yojiro. I've received no end of critisism from people for liking him.

But back to the subject, before any of you go condeming this guy, it might be helpfull to look at yourself and make sure you're not just like him.

You know, I think that this guy has a couple of arguments that totally contradict his own. Like the whole River thing. Could she really tell what was going to happen to her if she was sold back? Or was it buried under layers of Psychosis?
Also, with Simon forgiving Jayne, maybe he decided that he was going to be the better man and forgive Jayne? It seems like the kind of thing that he would do.
That's just my opinion on the issue. Also, as a post script, a clone of Crow? Come on, Jayne is so much more interesting a character than a Crow clone that is totally loyal to Mal.

Not that the guy who put up the page will be reading this, but...

I'm not clear why everyone is convinced that ANY of the characters actually FORGAVE Jayne. I believe, and it was my first impression on watching the series, that rather than forgiving him, Mal, River, and Simon each assessed the threat and determined how to best respond. After "Ariel" and "Trash" all three of them had seen what we must assume was the worst of Jayne's character - knowledge is power. Simon may have given a nice speech about choosing to trust Jayne, but in my opinion it was his only option and is not implicit evidence that he had actually forgiven him.

The captain is in charge, to put it simply, and Simon had found a safe place for himself and River on Serenity. What would have happened if he purposefully killed, or allowed to die, another member of Mal's crew? Mal had already gone out of his way to protect the brother and sister - alienating him and jeapordizing their place on the ship seems much riskier than living with a known threat and keeping his eyes open.

And surely River's statement "I can kill you with my brain" does not translate "It's okay, I forgive you."

Don't make faces.

Man, Sparticus here is grade A gold. I dont know what my favorite part is, where he personally attacks everyone who is a 'Jayne sympathizer' or the random accusations he makes of the show.

I know I was touched by this piece of class under the category of To All Jayne Fans

"You are a piece of subhuman filth and a threat to civil society."

Nice, I mean I thought I was enjoying a character who was experiencing personal growth and from time to time 'got stupid.' But now I realize that according to Mr. Quince I should... kill myself.

I also loved the very first section, Jayne's Crimes; Quince says that Jayne commits TWO CRIMES, and how horrible he is! He was treasonous and sold out the Tams!! Wait...treasonous and sold out Tams, sorry I'm rolling that around in my head because I could have swore that treason and selling out were uhhh.. the same things.

But as we all know there are two kinds of people in this world;
A: Those that are better than everyone else
B: Those that tolerate people who think they're A

"None of it means a damn thing"
