Hey... I got an idea (yes they do creep into my head from time to time) What would be the problem(s) with raising REAL fireflys. Not just to show support but let's face it they're a pretty cool bug. I can just imagine them lighting up the summer nights at my house in Greece.

Anbody ever look into this? Got any idea where to get started?

If there are no fireflies in Greece already,
the government probably would not be happy
about anybody importing them. You might
upset the ecosystem!

You could call it "research" and keep them
in a screened enclosure, perhaps?

Also, they don't survive just any old where.
We don't have them in my part of the Western
US, but they are in the East, where I lived
some years ago. We loved to chase them
around.

Thinking...would you settle for some of those
robot bugs which are under development? A trifle
pricey...

They have some in some places and I think that there are over 1000 different species. But since Greece is kind of a crossroads place since the dawn of time I would think that most species has been there at one time or another. It might be that they were all killed off because of polution. At any rate... I will continue my quest. Ad infinitum ad nauseum (not sure if the latin is correct)
And while robot bugs hold a certain fascination it's just not worth it if we vcan't get raybeams to shoot out of their eyes.

Well, best of luck in your quest, and let us know
if anything works out for you.

Latin? Language-mangling is generally tolerated
aboard our shiny ship, but if your Latin must be
perfect, "ad infinitum" is correct, and use "ad
nauseam" because the declensions of the root
words are different.
