A great mini-review spotted in tonight's TV listings:
Quote:

MOVIE OF THE NIGHT

Serenity
8pm, Sky Movies 1

It doesn't take a big budget to create a memorable sci-fi movie. Buffy creator Joss Whedon proves this beautifully with Serenity, the cinematic offshoot of his axed TV show Firefly, in which a band of loveable space rogues, headed up by Captain Malcolm Reynolds, attempt to out-manoeuvre an officially sanctioned assassin.

The script crackles and zings, the action is tight, and the drama pulls you in. If George Lucas had utilised Whedon for his later Star Wars pix, they may have been very special indeed.

thanks for spotting this - yet again the BDM gets recognition in the UK...

Edit - just noticed, you are new to the site! Welcome Vilnu, have a look around and make yourself at home. You will find everyone is friendly (ok, there are a couple of trolls but they can be ignored) and it is a multi-national community quietly holding the line waiting for a sequel! Great to have more UK Browncoats on board.

Chows in ten, no need to dress.

ELOISA

According to my 17 year old brother (complete with Kaylee crush), the BDM also got a good write-up in the Radio Times regarding the same showing. The more publicity the better.

And hi - glad you could join us. Have a strawberry. I grew them myself!

Now THAT would be an amazing way to push for a sequel! Hahaha, think about it, maybe 3000 Serenity flans waiting in line for the movie before it's even announced with signs and fliers. Hahaha, I wonder if even Browncoats would have the balls for that.

Welcome home, Vilnu (#23551)
It's right shiny to find you here.
Eloisa's done the strawberry thing already, so I'll offer you a big, sloppy mug of Mudder's Milk and an invitation up to the galley to question the buffet.

Nice of you to bring the paper along!
Mr. Pizey is correct about the later Star Wars episodes. I started out loving S. W. but each additional instalment more closely resembled a lump of cold oatmeal than the last.

could declare a one-day "waiting line" and have
ourselves an in-the-street shindig)

I hadn't thought of it like that, but yes, it would be a whole new type of 'request' for the studio to contemplate! Where would be best... Hollywood?

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Thanks for posting this Vilnu. We love reading praise for our BDM.

Would need events around the world, and make sure they where well attended and made the news, one guy standing in London and five in Hollywood would not do much good, it's a great Idea but if we are going to do it, need to do it properly, give people the time to make arrangements then pick a day say early spring (March 07) and get everyone out, sort out some posters (firefly Series 2/Serenity 2) that can be taken down and pick your targets well (Must be a Fox/Universal office in most places) keep them well organized and civil and just turn up stand in line and have a good time.

Together we will triumph.

If such a demo or set of demos were actually to be planned, one of the first things to do would be to find out local requirements for permits so we don't block traffic and get arrested!
Browncoats in a holding cell = not so good.

Browncoats creating chaos = negative.

Browncoats attracting attention for series/film while raising funds or doing something else constructive = positive

Do it as part of local holiday parade?

Do it in conjunction with Con(s)?

Peaceful flash-mob style in public squares or parks?

March along beaches?

Hands across a state? (No! Not Texas! A skinny one. Idaho panhandle? Heh.)

Suggestions?
(My brain is already set in "Lost" mode for BD Nathan's cameo tonight so of course I can't think)

If you are going to do it, first of all to get the most coverage, it needs to be a REAL insane-fans-movie line, meaning at least 24 hours straight. This has to compete with the fans waiting in line for Star Wars a month before it was released, if we are there for more than 24 hours, some news station is going to pick it up. Just a simple line with a poster nearby someone makes up for Serenity 2, and lots and lots of fliers for when people ask what the heck we're waiting for.

BROWNCOATJIM

Welcome, Vilnu! You'll not find a better site than this one, nor a better group of people. These Browncoats (of which I am one now) are some gorram good folk, supportive to all who wear brown (as I've come to learn recently). Tell us a story if you're of a mind, or just put out some ideas........you've found the right boat to fly on!

Simon: "Were there any Feds?"
mal: "No, no Feds, just an honest brawl between folk."
