LAOSHI

Hello everyone. This is my first post on Firefly fans so please be gentle. I'm writing an article for the competition over at Fireflytalk. I'm not as creative as all you fanfic writers but I do try to make my own contributions to the verse. Its a variation on the idea that the rest of the crew all represent parts of Mal. The problem is I don't know who came up with this idea in the first place. I think perhaps it was Joss but I can't find the reference. I really want to give credit where its due and I don't want to be accused of ripping off someone's idea. Does anyone know who originated this theory?

Welcome Laoshi:

Wish I could help you with your quest, but I am as ignorant as you are about this theme. But go with it. There are so many ideas out there they get mingled together eventually and why should you hesitate when you have an excellent idea like the one you just discribed.

Good to see your post and hope to see more.

Hello laoshi!
First of all, welcome to the site! It's a really shiny place that you're sure to have lotsa fun on!
About your question, I'm pretty sure that it was Nathan Fillion who thought of it, and he says so on the commentary of the pilot episode.

Thanks very much. I'll quote you on that
I'll have to take your word for it about the episode commentary though. I'm living in China at the moment and I left my Firefly DVD's in England so I can't listen to the commentaries. I haven't watched a Firefly episode since August. Its killing me. I can find Serenity the movie everywhere here even in the local supermarkets but I can't find Firefly and I don't have any idea how i'm going to get my hands on a copy. Also I'm a complete computer novice. You guys have some really cool pictures on your posts the one at the top is an avatar and the one at the bottom is a banner right? Where can i find something like that to put on my posts?

If you go to the blue sun room onthis site and go to images, then you'll be able to find some pretty good pictures for avatars and banners. All you have to do is right click the picture, click on "copy image location" and then paste it onto your signature in the update profile page. For custom avatars, you put the premade avatar on "none", and then paste a new one in the same way on your tag. There's also a tutorial thread for putting up pictures in Fireflyfans.net central if my instructions weren't clear enough.
By the way, I would recommend PhoenixRose or DesktopHippie for the avatars and banners.

Nathan also repeats this idea in the article/interview in the Official Companion. Book is his faith etc. Can't remember all of it off the top of my head.
