I just finished watching the series for the first time. I am now depressed. Why do shows like this get cancelled, while crap remains on the air? Life just aint fair.

Depressingly,

Daeron

That's true.
When I first finished watching all episodes, I just started all over again, and by now I'm in the 3rd viewing cycle

You can't take the sky from me

I wish I could, but I borrowed the DVDs. Maybe my girlfriend will get them for me for Valentines day. But even if I get them, they're missing like 4 or 5 more seasons worth of shows at least!

You and me both, pal. After Firefly got cancelled, even though I had most of the episodes on tape, I could never bring myself to rewatch them because just thinking about it got me depressed. In fact, I didn't watch Firefly again until I got the DVD.

Have to get myself to stop thinking about it just to get any work done. Which doesn't happen very often, unfortunately.

I am happy for the DVDs (That's oe thing that didn't get messed up.), I'm happy for the movie, but I am depressed by the cancelation.

Here's a blog I made from 11/25/03, my thoughts on cancelation and such.

Well, I'm sitting in bed, just thinking. Then I took a random path and wondered...Why do beautifully well done shows, i.e. Firefly, get kicked off the air, while poorly done shows, i.e. essentially any reality show, stay on the air? I mean, the only reason it was kicked off, is because it was on a Friday. A lot of people aren't even home! How gyped is that?! If they moved it to, say, Tuesday, you might have more viewers. Well, that could be just me. Maybe, for once, I'm not the only one thinking this.

I don't watch much TV, so I don't even remember this being on TV. When my step-brother brought me the DVDs to watch, I didn't think much about it. Just another sci-fi show I thought. My mistake! Best show I've seen in a long, long time...

I think there are many people feeling the same way we do TeelaBrown.

I was dead set against buying the DVDs myself. I thought they would just be too heartwrenching to watch again, knowing that things weren't even able to start up, much less resolve.

But my husband put them on his Yule list and his mom bought them for him. Just before he went out of town for his Master's Degree residency, we watched Serenity, which he had missed when it aired.

I was three eps away from finishing Buffy S5, which I had received for Yule, when I decided to watch "The Train Job" instead. Between that and Serenity, something just GRABBED me...I think it was probably Adam Baldwin's manly arms...no wait, I think I dreamed that part...heh heh

ANYWAY, I was reeled in big time. I couldn't get enough. I finished the DVDs in three days and then started barrelling my way through Netflix desperate for Adam Baldwin movies. I'd watched all the eps a second time, all of the bonus material and half of the eps with commentary before I could get back to the Scooby's latest apocalypse. Glory was just gonna have to wait.

It is depressing, though, thinking about the series being over. So much left undone. So much potential. So much lack of Jayne. (whimper!)

Well, yeah, I know there are people who feel the way I do. I just need reassurance, a little backing up, for once.

Teela, it had EVERYTHING to do with the show being on Friday night's. Fridays are the Time Slots of Death, unless you can appeal to a wide age-range audience that includes adults and children.

This is why DARK ANGEL died, this is why FIREFLY died. Neither of them ever had a chance.

Yay! So new, support. I also was chosen leader by Succatash. I guess good things do happen to reality-facing nerds.

Well, you got it all to watch over again, only this time with commentaries, and then extra disk with all cool bits, and easter egg with Adam Baldwin, so that should keep you busy for a bit.

I asked for the DVD's for Christmas because, well, I just had to have them. Put off watching them for almost a month though. Wanted to watch them right away because, hey, unaired eps! But also didn't wanna. Knew I would fall in love all over again and knew it would be painful. I did and it was. I bawled like a baby when I finshed up OiS. Now I'm slowly working my way through the commentaries, making them last.

But I've learned to look on the bright side. I've recruited another obsessed Browncoat and am working on another(ok, actually, by halfway through Serenity he stated he was buying the DVD's, but he's still only seen the one ep). I have a mooovie to look forward to (yes I do, there WILL be movieage) and who knows after that. I still get all weepy when watching an ep sometimes and I still hate Fox ( ), but the good far outweighs the bad.

And I think I'm waxing way too poetical about a television show.

Yule is another name for the Winter Solstice. My family doesn't celebrate Christmas, we celebrate Yule.
