You know. . .I've been stuck out here in the land that God forgot for around about a year.

Actually, it's not quite a year, but we went to Kuwait first and then got sent here. . .either way, I left my civilian job, my family and my betrothed LAST January.

When we first got here, we had NO idea when we were going to be allowed to come home. Hell, we didn't know ANYTHING.

Then a few months after that, we heard that another National Guard unit had been placed on alert to relieve us. So we had some news. Faint. . .but there.

Then a few months after that, we were given a window of departure. We were excited, but wary.

No surprise, that window was slammed shut on us and we were told we had been extended for an undetermined period of time. MAJOR DEPRESSION set in for all of us.

Just before Christmas, we were told that our relief had been activated, and we were told the EXACT DATE that would be the very last day ANY of the guys from my unit would be in Afghanistan.

That day is 2 1/2 months away now, and what we're saying is "We can SEE it now."

So. . .now I can almost say that about the Firefly movie. . .and I can almost say that about a resurrected series. "We can ALMOST see it now. We don't have a real DATE yet, but we've got a window. . .we've got good info from the people who are in a position to share it."

Think about it, guys. This isn't the 'Simpsons' guy from 'The Android Dungeon'. . .going on the internet to alt.I.have.no.life to get his movie info. CHRIS BUCHANAN, JOSS WHEDON and TIM MINEAR are the ones telling us. THAT is why we're not getting a whole bunch of details and 'spoilers' and such. . .the info we're getting is LIGHT, but SOLID.

We're almost there, folks. We can almost see it.

Tell me where the biggest brown coat party will be on premiere night. . .I'll do my level best to be there.

Y'know Static, I am genuinely glad for every post you make to this site. First of all, everytime I see your name I think, "He's still flying" as in you're still with us, I know my thoughts and prayers are with you every day.

Secondly, you've always got a great idea or spin on something. I know I've always been leary and somewhat mistrusting of any news about the movie (the pessimist is never let down), but you're right, this info comes right from the the horses mouth, and probably reason for the lightness of the info is that they only want to tell us what's solid. I'm guessing there's a whole lot more info they could report that is, as Niska would say, "Not so solid" but will be in the future. Which leads me to believe that things are probably progressing, maybe slower than wanted, but progressing none the less.

Well Static, you summed up the wisdom of "Rumor Control" pretty neatly.

The more you get in the way of spoilers and details, the less you can trust the source.

What we're getting is the straight scoop and as long as there is a straight scoop to be getting, I'll be glad to be getting that scoop and not the bogus helping of dessicated fruit, nuts, flakes and marshmallow topping.

Keep flying. Keep your head down, your arse safe and come back to the Browncoat Brigands.

The movie has to happen. I saw it.

No, I'm not a psychic. But I had one of those moments when you realize Firefly is too special to vanish. It was when I was remembering a scene in an episode... and I couldn't remember which episode. I looked through the DVDs and became manic for a few minutes, wondering which episode that scene was from.

Then it hit me. The scene was from the scipt to 'Dead or Alive', which was never even filmed. Yet I remembered that scene - many scenes - in my mind as if I had seen it on the screen. Somehow even the visual details were involuntarily created in my memory. I saw Simon and River in the triage tent. I saw Serenity flying over the forest at night. It was an amazing experience.

So even if there is no movie (blasphemy!) there'll always be one in my mind. Thanks Joss!

Joss isn't going to let Firefly die. We won't let him, for one ;) lol

Keep flying.

If, after the movie, they decide to complete the season, what are the chances of a DVD recall where they give us a full season instead of only 13. If the show is picked up again, we should divert our energy into a recall campaign.

Not quite sure what that would achieve - wouldn't a recall campaign end up costing them money as opposed to making it? Presumably FF was cancelled because they thought that it wouldn't make any money, and now the turnaround is because the DVD sets prove that it could. If they did manage to relaunch the series I'd expect they'd call it Season 2. To be honest I think the episodes that we have (few though they are) hold together pretty well as a 'season'. It's short and there are unanswered questions but if there weren't there wouldn't be much point in continuing!

NO NO NO NO NO NO. . .

THAT isn't what will happen. . .

The series will be resurrected, and then after two NEW seasons, and they start releasing the previous seasons on DVD, a-la "CSI" and "The Dead Zone", the sets WE have right now will be COLLECTORs items.

Besides. . .you KNOW when the series re-begins that ANYONE who runs it will feel obligated to run the original episodes FIRST. . .beginning with the REAL 2 hour pilot.

I mean. . .who WOULDN'T learn from Fox's mistakes?

Besides Fox themselves, I mean.
