HENKINS

Let me first say that this is my first post, but I check this site constantly (six, seven times a day). Secondly, all excited about the movie of course.

My question is this (brought on by the whole 'Is Book a bad guy' thread): remember when River says: "No power in the 'verse can stop me", does she mean universe or verse (as in the Bible)?

Has this already been discussed?

Just a thought.

She was quoting Kaylee from earlier in that episode. 'Verse is slang for universe.

No power in the 'verse can stop me.

She was repeating what Kaylee said after getting her apple back. I think it has to be referring to the universe.

Thanks. I remember that she was quoting. Maybe I am reading more into this than there is, but with the discussions of people not being what they seem, were the writers hinting at something? I'll probably just paranoid. Or delusional.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome to the board Henkins. Glad to have you with us.

River was definitely using the phrase she had heard from Kaylee. 'Verse refers to the universe.

"May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one."

As the others have mentioned, "Verse" is used as "world" is today.

You know that does make a very nice double entendre, which the Whedonverse is rife with. I hadn't thought of that. Clever thought.

Sir, I think you have a problem with your brain being missing.

Yes - very "Jossish" (new word for Webster?) even if by accident.
