ROCKETJOCK

Well, here we are, shaping a slow, lazy orbit back towards the rim. Things have been a mix of good and bad since the Miranda Riots, but even the Captain has to admit business has been brisk enough to invest in a real-food meal. The turkey may be a little small, but at least it didn't start life on a soybean farm.

Good smells issuing from the galley. It's hard to believe Jayne volunteered to help Kaylee with the cooking; but the real strange part is, he's actually pretty good at it. Seems Book managed to teach him something about spices--and he's kept up that little fresh herb garden the shepherd set up next to the moisture reclamation filters. Funny the things a man will choose to be sentimental about.

Simon's got a lot to be thankful for, now that he's stopped mooning about his lost life in the core. But dealing with a wife who's three months pregnant will do that; start a man looking forward. And of course, River's getting more and more close to--well, "normal" may not be the right word, but "consistent" comes pretty close.

Zoe's the one this is hardest on, I think. Hard to feel gratitude in a year where you lost your favorite reason for living. And good food or not, things won't be the same without Wash doing his infamous "Olive-Finger" routine.

But still, I think the good food will help raise her spirits--and though Mal can't bring himself to be thankful to anyone in particular, I still think he's thankful in general. He's still flying, after all. And Inara coming back on board doesn't hurt either--even if her apprentice does keep teasing him...

So--I've cobbled together some hummus, made with real olive oil, and pita bread for dipping. My wife's made her legendary sweet potato pie; and the daughter's fixin' deviled eggs, made with real shell eggs, no powdered paste.

We're still together, still flying. Time to show the 'Verse our gratitude.

Sp what are you thankful for? And what're y'all bringin' to the table?

CANTER

I'd like to wish to you as to whom it matters, a happy Thanksgiving.

Or is it a merry Thanksgiving?

Anyway, be merry and thankful and come back safely if you should go someplace far.

I'm thinking we'll rise again!

SISTER

I am thankful to have found Firefly and Serenity, although long after it appeared on the air and in the theater. I am grateful for this site to share in the love of a show that was taken away too soon. I am grateful that it ever was produced at all and for the mind of Joss Whedon who created it. Now that he has, indeed, "invaded peoples' dreams" what could be next? I hope that everyone of you has a good day; good friends around you and peace in your heart.

A crate of apples, bottle Shinon's best rice wine, and protein cake kinda taste's like chocolate. Well it's a good day.

Don't tell em what I did make something up.

You folks are sharp. Re-reading my post, I realize that, while I asked what you were bringing to the table for Serenity's Thanksgiving, I forgot to ask what it is you are thankful for. Well, Browncoats must be right perceptive, because you listed your gratefullnesses anyway.

Myself? My family is together and healthy, and prosperous enough to set out the feed-bag. We're still flying. It's good enough.

I'm going to update my initial post now, so new folk checking on board know what's up. That's another thing I'm grateful for; the Browncoat Community. Give yourselves a slap on the back, and Happy Turkey Day!
